Hello everyone,
Firstly, I want to describe my general situation - I've already completed my Bachelor (Finance and Accounting) and in few months I'll finish my MSc (Economics/ACCA Programme) on one of lower tier universities in Poland (so to be more precise, not warsavian ones). Due to the fact that I've been working since my 2nd year of Bachelor (2 years in accounting/controlling) and now it's my third year of professional career (B4/Tax Advisory) I really feel I didn't use my time on University properly - i.e. have not taken part in Erasmus programme, should have focused more on studying instead of working or just should have tried to change universities to have better exposure. Now I'm at this point when I feel I really lack any challenges since few years and want to have one. Other than that, from what I've experienced I feel like with my background it'd be difficult to transfer to something more interesting than accounting/tax (this is another subject to discuss) - I was thinking about consulting, but as far as I know e.g. guys from MBB in Warsaw have really top education in their background.
My main question is - with following background (I'll describe it below) is there a point for me to start studying for GMAT to try to get to one of the better universities in Europe? I'm not thinking about schools like LSE, but looking at rankings lets say Stockholm School of Economics? (it's just what i assume while looking at rankings; LSE is top tier and SSE would be tier below, if I'm not right then please do not feel offended)?
1) Professional experience
- 2 years in finance and controlling in one of the SSC; during this time I've also participated in assisting/implementing certain processes while my office was outsourced to India (delegations to their office, active operational management and so on),
- approximately 1 year in one of B4 companies, tax advisory/transfer pricing (I like to indicate it, because sometimes it really doesn't feel like tax advisory),
2) Education/other activities
- during my Bachelor I was fairly active in various student activities, i.e. member of one of finance university societies for two years/president of the group for one year, ACCA ambassador, various organisational assistance from my side, helping organisation to get in touch with students and so on,
- and what I see that could be a problem - my overall grades, I've been working since 2 year of Bachelor and I really didn't focus on my grades, these are just mediocre I guess,
- by June I think I'll have 8/14 ACCA exams completed.
3) GMAT - and here is my main question I guess. Looking at my profile - assuming (yes, I know it's difficult from reading this forum, but just hypothetically) I could get 550 - 700 points, could I get into any of these better universities in Europe?
If you need any more details to give me your opinion please let me know.
Thanks guys!
