I really like this forum. Especially the volunteer question-posts. They are very helpful.
I took a sample verbal section and could not finish it in time. My confidence has gone down a little though iam hoping to get over this problem with practice. I spent a lot of time in critical reasoning (CR) and sentence correction (SC) questions. I did ok on the reading comprehension questions (RC). I was stuck in CR and SC questions and may have spent more than 7-8 min on each of these questions. I expected better out of myself. Hence, iam turning to this forum for advice.
1. What is the time limit to allocate for a typical SC question?
2. What is the time limit to allocate for a typical CR question?
3. What is the time limit to allocate for a typical RC ie reading the passage and answering 3-4 questions?
4. Can you please advice on the strategy for SC and CR questions? I felt i had to read the CR passage twice sometimes to answer it.
I plan on giving GMAT third week of August. Need your feedback on the above ASAP please. thanks

It's not just about how much time to spend per question type, but how much time to spend as you progress. You should spend more time on the first 10 or so questions, regardless of question type, because they affect your score much more so than the last 10. And how long it will take you will also depend on your natural abilities in those areas (I cruise through SC, but not RC quite as quickly), and how prepared you are overall.
Your best bet is to learn the strategies for each type of question, and what specifically they're looking for and how they're trying to trap you. The timing will take care of itself once you master that. I've used PR's Cracking the GMAT and it is excellent for that, really the best book I've used. I would highly recommend it. It will definitely help with timing (I didn't run out of time on verbal at all!).
