Hi abhi90,

Based on your two Official GMAT Scores, you're lost significant points in all 3 major Verbal categories (SC, RC and CR), so you'll likely need to work on all three areas to hit your goal score. Thankfully, the Verbal section of the GMAT is as consistent and predictable as the Quant section is, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. This means that you ultimately handled the GMAT in the same general ways both times that you took the Official Exam. You did certain things consistently well, but you also made certain consistent mistakes. To improve, you have ultimately have to change how you 'see' (and respond to) the Verbal section - and that means that you'll have to learn and practice some new Tactics. Your next planned Test Date would give you about 2 months of study time - and you could potentially improve a great deal during that time IF you can commit to a consistent study routine and IF you focus on the proper Verbal Tactics.

1) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC,

I study at least 1 hour every day, approximately 10 - 14 hours per week. Is this sufficient?
Also, I always try to adopt a strategy in both CR and RC, but ultimately none of the strategies work, ending up more than 2 mins per question.
Can you kindly advice?

Regards,
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,

Since your two prior scores are so similar to one another, to score a lot higher you will have to make some significant changes to how you handle the Verbal section. Those changes will likely involve spending more time on your studies and/or learning and practicing some new Tactics.

Hi Abhishek,

With your score goal, you're going to need to focus on a consistent set of of Tactics - and that training will likely be a bit 'slow-going' at first (since you have to learn to think about the Verbal section in a new way). Remember that the Verbal section of the GMAT is predictable - so you can learn to take advantage of the patterns that the Verbal section is built around. Given the work that you've done so far, I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Verbal Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients finish that Study Plan in under a month, but you should NOT try to 'rush' through that Study Plan (you need to build up specific skills before you worry about speed). During that time, you'll also be able to access any of the Quant resources that interest you. We have a variety of free resources on our site (www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an account.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.
