Of the 312 employees of Company X, 1/3 are in division A and the rest are in division B. Women account for 2/3 of all employees. If 5/8 of the women are in division B, how many men are in division A?

A. 26
B. 35
C. 78
D. 104
E. 130

Division A's total employees = 1/3 * 312 = 104
Company X female employees = 2/3 * 312 = 208
Division A's female employees = 3/8 * 208 = 78
Division A's male employees = 104 - 78 = 26 (A)

We see that 312/3 = 104 employees are in division A, so 208 are in division B. Also, there are 208 women and 104 men. 208 x 5/8 = 130 women are in division B, so 208 - 130 = 78 men are in division B. Thus, 104 - 78 = 26 men are in division A.

Answer: A
