Hi apurvroy,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Assuming a similar 'swing' in how your CATs function, your 3 recent CAT score results show that you essentially performed the same each time (+/- a few points). If you've gotten 'stuck' at this particular score level, then you'll likely need more than 4 weeks of additional study to hit your score goal. Using your last CAT score as a gauge, you will have to make improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections to get up to the 720+ level.

1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used?
3) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on each of your CATs?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

1) How long have you studied?
A) I have been studying for approximately 3-4 months now.

2) What study materials have you used?
A) OG and Manhattan Complete set, also a lot of material from gmatclub forums and other online resources

3) What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores on each of your CATs?
MGMAT1 : 570 (Q38 V30)
MGMAT2 : 620 (Q41 V34)
GMATPrep: 650 (Q48 V29)
MGMAT3 : 650 (Q44 V35)

4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
A) Fall 2018

5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
A) UT Austin, Fosters - Washington , USC Marshall, Vanderbilt Owen, Kenan Flagler, Boston University, Carnegie Mellon (This is a flexible list, can change based upon my score)

Another point that I would like to mention is that, after giving my test, I do not go and see the solutions of the questions I got wrong in the test.
I try to do them again and time myself. I have observed that I am able to solve half of these questions, without seeing the solution , within the time limit.
The ones I am not able to solve, I do not find their solutions very difficult to understand. They are either lengthy or its just something that did not strike me while attempting them on the test(it is often something that is mentioned in the question which I overlooked).
I need help to improve my test taking strategies. My verbal score has been lower than what I expected consistently. I get a lot of CR questions wrong
I really do not want to postpone my exam (might do that only as a last resort). Please let me know what I can do differently to improve my score.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi apurvroy,

Many Test Takers who use a 'book heavy' study approach end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level - and it appears that that has happened to you as well - so you'll likely end up needing to invest in some non-book resources to hit your score goal. That having been said, the score that you "want" and the score that you "need" are probably not the same thing, so you might be able to continue studying as you have been and hit a competitive-enough score that will satisfy the Schools that you're interested in applying to. This all comes down to how you want to proceed with your studies - are you prepared to learn/practice some new Tactics or do you want to stick with your current approach?
