I just finished online GMAT (and my first ever GMAT attempt after 8 months of prep), and I want to highlight the following
>> Stressful login: 15 minutes before schedule, I logged in so that I can connect with my proctor well in advance. A window popped and I was asked to install GoToMeeting (I thought it ends with Secure Browser). Okay... it installed just fine (so far so good) and I ended up waiting in a room. 10 minutes in, my proctor did not come in. Out of impatience, I closed the GoToMeeting window, and attempted to reopen, thinking that maybe I actually was the one not visible and that my laptop is screwing with me. I reopened the window, and to my horror, I see the dreaded 404 Error. In my mind I was already thinking of emailing GMAC of this problem so I took screenshot of my laptop screen, in the hopes that I would get refunded or rescheduled for free. Meanwhile, I chatted support, "WHERE IS MY PROCTOR??" Details were asked of me blah blah blah, and later on I was given a Zoom link. It was already 3 minutes beyond my designated time slot. Thankfully I was able to meet the proctor and proceeded with the preliminary checks. All good... until I started to lose the proctor (his voice was static-y) just before I started the exam -- imagine how I already felt. (Thankfully, as it will be apparent later, I got to hear him well again eventually). Bumpy start, but I had been on full swing. I started with Verbal.
>> As mentioned by many other online takers in this forum, latency issues were very frequent. Happens intermittently, but frequently. You click an answer choice, the radio buttons take 5-10 seconds to get marked. Same happens with the "Next" button (but when the radio button is activated, the "next" button easily responds when it is immediately clicked; in other words, the latency instances happen on the whole system). Quite annoying, but I was able to learn that I could use that waiting time, at least, to erase my whiteboard (take note!!). I was able to finish verbal on time. However, that kind of fared badly in Quant, despite it being my relatively stronger area. I had to guess (I think 2 or 3) questions at some points because I knew I was going to run out of time.
>> I flopped IR, but maybe this was more because of the questions themselves. Maybe I was already exhausted myself at that time. FYI, the thermostat of my air-conditioning unit is lower than the optimum. During my unit's cut-off time, I found myself less productive.
>> My worst experience was the AWA. The latency issues erratically dampened the flow of my thoughts. During such instances, whatever I was typing did not manifest in the text box -- yes my inputs were coming through, but they do not register in the screen until the end of the zero-latency period. It was more annoying during the times that I wanted to go back to a certain portion of the writeup.
>> Finally, I got an unofficial score of 710 (Q48/V39). Just the score I wanted (my official mocks ranged from 680 to 740). Happy with my unexpected V39, but disappointed with Q48. I usually get Q50 in the mocks. IR is a dismal 4. I may decide for a retake, but I will do so in-center. Update: It's already official.
