Hi, please evaluate my profile for Rotman full-time MBA.
Cohort: Indian, male, non-Engineer
Age: 30
Undergrad CGPA (in Accounting and Finance) - 3.37/4.00
Qualified Chartered Accountant (Indian equivalent of Canadian CPA)
GMAT - Yet to give. What would be an ideal score for my cohort?
Work Experience:
4 years as part of Transaction Services team in Big 4 accounting firm in India with experience in multiple M&A transactions in TMT and other sectors including marquee USD 1bn+ valuation deals. Climbed the corporate ladder from entry level to Manager level.
During the course of work, have led lean teams (1-2 juniors) to provide financial advisory services on buy-side and sell-side engagements.
Was part of the Millennial Discussion Group at the firm to help improve go-to-market strategies and increase employee engagement on internal processes.
EC:
- Participated in various inter-collegiate competitions for business and commerce and represented my department in quiz rounds and business plan rounds;
- Organized a commerce inter-collegiate festival in final year of college;
Reason for Rotman MBA:
- To immigrate to Canada and an MBA from a Canadian school will help with job applications
- Want to pivot from public accounting firm to strategy consulting with long term goal of PE.
Any suggestions to improve profile would be highly appreciated.

For Indian applicants GMAT score (20-30 points) above the average score is always considered good. The average GMAT score for Rotman is 670, I suggest you target a GMAT score 720+ to maximize your chances (higher the better).
On the work front, I can see a good career trajectory (from entry level to manager will bring lots of stories of impact). Working at a Big 4 company also connects you to global companies, which broadens your perspective. To bring out a lively personality on paper, you will need to bring interesting stories to the table. Demonstrate how you overcame obstacles to help yourself and your organization grow.
Your ECs are fine. However, you must bring something that will set you apart from the other applicants in the pool. You can discuss any hobbies or interests you have so that the adcoms can learn about other elements of your personality. Any community involvement?
You will need to be more specific about your post-MBA goals. Try to divide into long-term and short-term goals.You should think about why you need these management skills and how an MBA would help you accomplish your long-term goals. As a result, you'll need to fine-tune these goals, and we'd be delighted to guide you and try to resolve your stumbling blocks.
