Hello all,
I have been doing a bit of research on this subject and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this. The point of this thread is to ask legitimate questions in regards to the career transition process for part time students.
Most people who apply to part time programs are not looking for a career change. Instead, they are looking to advance within their company, or remain employed while in school to have a steady paycheck during their academic studies. Career change is generally, from my understanding, something that most business schools emphasize for their full time students, as evidenced by the career center resources made available to said full time students. This also makes perfect sense, given that FT students have been out of the work force for two years.
Is it completely impossible to go to Business school on a part time basis, with the intention of securing an internship?
From what I understand, many investment banks recruit at top 10-15 schools. In order to make a transition into IB, would it be possible to be accepted to (for argument's sake) NYU, or UCLA (where I believe PT and FT students have equal access to recruiting) and then get involved in an internship from there?
I would have to assume that being accepted Into NYU or UCLA part time, as opposed to Penn State or Ohio State full time (again, for argument sake only), would make it easier to transition into IB, due to the reputation of the school alone. I could be very wrong in this assumption as I see many conflicting articles. Here's hoping that someone in this forum would have first-hand experience, or know someone else who does. Looking forward to hearing all of the answers as I am certain that I am not the only one wondering about this.
Please let me know! I appreciate any and all input.
