Hey Everybody,

I am struggling with GMAT Quant and I simply can't see any progress, please help me. My GMAT is in 3 Weeks and my target score would be 650, however, I can only study before/after work and on the weekends. 4 Months ago I took the mock test from mba. com -> 570 points (Verbal 72th percentile, quant 28th percentile). After 4 Months of preparation I took the second one yesterday -> 550 points (Verbal 89th percentile, quant 13th percentile). I am absolutely crushed and don't know what to do.

Within the last 4 monts I bought the Manhattan books and worked through them. Afterwards I completed the questions in the official guide under timed conditions and checked which ones I got wrong and why. However, apparently that didn't do anything to improve my performance -.- What can I do to improve my quant skills within the next three weeks as much as possible? I just don't know what to do anymore, all my efforts seem to have been for nothing...

The mock in which you’ve scored 550, you attempted verbal first or quants ?

The best you can do in this limited time is to review concepts, solve a few problems from every topic listed in the OG, and analyze your work. If possible, try to get a book on quantitative skills and go through it quickly.

You can obtain your target score of 650 by focusing on not making mistakes on the easy to medium difficulty level questions. To score above that, you will need more time. GL!

My suggestion would be write GMATclub tests. Review them until you remember the pattern.

Like inequality questions are solved same. Time and work questions have only one formula. Average distance. Number- finding remainder. Set theory. Learn to draw 2 sets , 3 sets. Review GMATclub tests and find how many questions from each area. Say you get atleast 1 question for sets. 1 for square , rectangle , cube cuboid , area mensuration. Minimum 1 question from time and work. Out of 31 aim upto 20. You can get Q47/48. You will get your desired. Score.

One more suggestion is take a topic. Say time and work. Go to GMATclub practice questions under GMAT and solve all those questions until you get hold of it. Do it 20 types.

Thank you to everybody for their help so far. As suggested, I have started reviewing my previous questions and I was surprised to find that, when I looked at the questions without being stressed by the time limit, I was able to solve a lot of the questions that I got wrong under timed conditions. It seems like the timing really stresses me out and I am kind of panicking and unable to remember simple theories/formulas etc.

Is there a way to get rid of these "blackouts" due to the time constraint? From the very beginning on I have always been practicing under timed conditions, so I am quite surprised that apparently the timing is now causing me so much trouble.

Thank you in advance for any kind of support!

Stop worrying start practicing. as you practice, you improve your problem recognizing skills. for example, now when you see inequality you dont do anything. you will read problem. and then you will think. As you practice, when you read x is positive integer , you will note x >=1 , before reading text. then you will involve in the problem. when you read time and work, you will watch out for number of people, time taken to complete full task, how many hours they work per day and etc to make an equation and then you will quickly compute , mark the answer and move on.

So I've been studying quant (especially algebra and number properties due to their frequency on the test) but no matter how much I study, I continue to get around 50% of questions wrong. I have an error-log and write down why I got the question wrong and I review concepts from Manhattan guides frequently - I don't know why I am apparently not making any progress...
