Hi guys:

Demographic: Male, Peruvian, 29 years old (30 this year)

High School: 1st place. Won many maths competitions.

Undergraduate Education: System Engineer at Best Enginnering School in Peru. GPA 2.5 (many courses were hard). Top 15th place in entrance exam.
Weak point: Left university 2 years (I was not sure about my career), but when returned school I did it well, and pass very hard professors where very few students did it.

Work Experience: Hybrid profile (project management, product development, retail banking)
- 3 years in peruvian subsidiary of one of the biggest banks in US/World. In Retail Banking, doing process improvement, functional analysis, and testing of new functionalities.
Promoted once, and qualified as outstanding.
- 2 years in top 4 peruvian bank, and subsidiary of one of the biggest bank in Canada. In retail banking too, doing project management and implementig new functionalities in the payments business. I won an schoolarship in a postgraduate course (Diploma in Project Management). Promoted once, and qualified as Very Good.

Postgraduate Education: Diploma in Project Management in Top Institute in Project Management in Peru. GPA 4 (that was easy).

Extracurricular activities:
- amateur swimmer (3 times every week)
- few social work some hours a year (3 or 4 days every year)

Why and MBA?: I am doing very well at work, having 5 years of experiencie I think is time to take the next step and boost my career. I want a very good education and gain the netwoork that only a Top MBA could give, also want to have better job opportunities.

Post MBA?: Continue doing Project Management, in Retail Baking or Payments Business, or maybe chage to a technology company. (Love projects, Love innovation, and love the impact in people)

Planning on score ~720 GMAT

Target Schools: LBS (I love UK), Booth, IE, Wharton, Ross

What do you think about my profile? any recommendations? I think my undergraduate GPA is my weakness point. But after that, I did it very well at university and at work. And I feel confident doing very well at a top business school.

Thanks a lot.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing! A few follow up q's....

- are you hoping to apply this coming fall to start fall 2018?
- when is your actual GMAT?
- how would you describe your past leadership experiences?
- what did you do when you left uni for 2 years?
- was the 2.5 your final GPA? Was that out of 4.0? was it translated to US or that's how it was indicated?

Your initial school list looks pretty out of reach if your grades are as low as you are indicating... keep us posted though!

Hi:
- Yes, I want to start next year
- Actual score is 550, currently preparing for the GMAT, reinforcing Verbal part and planning to take it in May/2017
- I used to be the group-leader in the courses a university, I remember one course (one of the most difficult) where only my group could pass.
Last job could develope my skills more, as project manager I have to lead the team to achieve every business goal, that is my day to day.
- wasting my time (videogames, TV, ...), I was 17-18 years old, and was an inmature-young-mistake. I could learn from that: don't waste opportunities, know my weaknesses and strengths
- nop, I converted (weighted avg) to US scale. My last score was 12.6 (of 20) (first place has ~16 in my career/university), I think is not bad.

any recommendations or comments? I have to ace the GMAT...

Hi there,
Thanks for the updates! So yes nailing the GMAT is particularly important for you, with the struggles in undergrad. The schools you've listed may still be reaches for you, even so. But my advice would be to work hard on that prep and hopefully get your practice test scores close to where you want your score, and see how the GMAT plays out, which will help dictate your school list to a certain degree. No matter what I'd probably suggest including some 'safer' schools if you want best chances, food for thought. Keep us posted and good luck on your prep!
