The probability questions that we do here essentially have 3 purposes:
1. To provide difficult content, so that the questions you see on GMAT day do not come anywhere close to stressing you out;
2. To provide deep content, so that you are drilled on many concepts (often within one problem). This way, you should be familiar with 99% of potential approaches you could take on test day.
3. To have fun with brain-teasers.
I certainly had a lot of difficulty with the challenge Q problems posted by users -- both in probability/counting and other areas -- because that has always been a weak point for me (I was a math minor and I still find it tough!). But the GMAT tests concepts much more so than depth, meaning:
(a) in a probability question on the real GMAT, you can usually do the math without formulas. However, the formulas are a nice double-check, particularly if you get such a question early on.
(b) practice makes close-to-perfect.
