Hello, this is my first post, so hopefully this is in the right place!
Could you all share your input on my MBA profile below?
My profile is as follows:
Gender: Male
Age: 27 (28 in June)
GMAT: Planning to sit in June 2016 (Goal is 700-720)
Undergrad: BS in Sports Management, Minor in Business Administration from State School
GPA: 3.41 (Cum Laude)
Graduate: MS in Accounting
GPA: 3.72
Work Experience: 5.5 years working for the Federal Government in contracting. Promoted each year and am now the lead negotiator in my office.
Interests and Extracurricular: Golf (Organize office golf tournament) and working out (overall, not too many extracurricular)
Short-Term Goal: Consulting, preferably with the big 3, but would be more than ok with Deloitte, Strategy&, Parthenon, ATK, etc.
Long-Term Goal: Get out of consulting after a few years and transition to corporate development/strategy
Schools interested in: Berkeley, Yale, Duke, UCLA, Texas, Emory, Georgetown, Vanderbilt
Questions:
- What are my chances at the listed schools? What sort of GMAT score do I need for these schools (I know they range in ranking)?
- Where could I improve my profile?
I know this is tough since I haven't taken the GMAT, but just wanted to get some perspective on my chances. Thank you all in advance!

Thanks for your post! While I can give you an evaluation, I would love to learn more about your job. What do you do specifically, i.e. what types of contracts? What companies have you interacted with etc?
You are targeting a nice spread of schools and with a good GMAT score you should have a nice chance at getting in. I'll take them in buckets:
Berkeley Haas / Yale SOM: Target school, but may be a reach depending on the GMAT. You should aim for 730-740+ for these schools.
Duke Fuqua / UCLA Anderson: 720 is a nice score
McCombs / Emory / Georgetown / Vanderbilt: North of 700, with slightly higher target for McCombs and Vanderbilt
In terms of how to improve your profile, focus on your overall story and how extra-curriculars fit into that story. I don't see a lot in that area, which will be a challenge to overcome. Thanks for the quick response! Regarding my job, I handle everything from pre-award to negotiating the actual contract to post-award maintenance. Specifically, I write up the Requests for Proposals (RFPs), conduct the cost analysis of the proposal, conduct face-to-face negotiations with the contractors, and then I write up the actual contract. Once it has been awarded, I'll monitor the performance and write-up any modifications or memos that need to be made. For types of contracts, I've done everything from purchase orders to cost-plus fixed fee contracts in excess of $70MM. For work interactions, I've had documents reviewed and approved at the Senior Executive Service level and I've negotiated with all of the major defense contractors, ranging from my counterparts all the way up to company presidents.
Extra-curriculars are definitely a weak spot in my profile, so I'm working on finding ways to improve it, but I'm sort of lost. Right now, the only thing I have is planning/organizing the office golf tournament, which I do by myself. It's nothing special, but I handle all preparation leading up to the tournament and coordination on the day of the tournament, with about 70-75 people participating in the event.
