Hi,
I need help in the next step of my pre-MBA journey. I just gave GMAT and need to know the strengths of my profile.
Background information:
Origin: Indian Male (23.5 year-old)
Undergraduate: B.Tech in "Physical Sciences" (a combination of "applied physics", "remote sensing", and "geology") from Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology(IIST). Entire college fee was paid by the Department of Space as a result of good academic performance.
UG GPA: 8.2 (on a scale of 10).
Job profile: 2-years(August,2017-present) as Scientist/Engineer at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). My division, the only one of its kind, develops applications for different clients, which include many government organizations, different ministries, and Defence agencies. I am also part of a technology development program (TDP) for Deep learning applications.
GMAT: 730 (Q51, V38, IR6, AWA 5). I prepared only for 10 days (a week for verbal, 2 days for Quant, 1 day for AWA and IR). I did
OG and Manhattan SC for sentence correction, which was my weak point.
Extracurricular:(1) During UG I was part of "Nirmaan" initiative, which focused on teaching and development of tribal children in the area around my college. As part of Eco-club activities, regularly (once a month) picked plastic waste from the nearby beach. Currently involved with a nearby ashram to provide my services for children development programs. I am also part of the cricket team of my division.
Special Mention: I have been selected for the 39th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica (ISEA). So, I will be stationed at Antarctica for 13 months (starting from November 2019 to December 2020) for research and management purposes.
Target Schools: Considering India's application pool, I am not very optimistic about M7. So, I am considering Ross, Fuqua, Yale, Haas, Anderson, Tuck, Johnson, McCombs and Stern.
Post MBA: mainly Finance or Consulting.
Specific Questions:
(1) Should I retake the GMAT and target 750+ ?
(2) If I apply with 730, what are my chances for above-mentioned schools with scholarship? (difficult, maybe, and achievable)
(3) I am planning to apply in R1 (August 2020). Will it affect my application if I am not able to attend different activities planned by B-schools in India? (Because I will be stationed at Antarctica.)
(4) Will my short work experience be negative in my application? (I will have close to 4 years of experience by June 2021.)
