I am an Indian male with a non-engineering background.

Age: 32

GMAT: Planning to take the GMAT in April, target score 700+

Under graduation: Bachelor in Hospitality, Graduated with distinction.

WE: 9years at a Leading hospitality chain. Started in the management as operations manager and rose to the ranks of Director of room division and lead pre opening of multiple hotel operations and its development from scratch.

EC: Currently pursuing digital marketing from ISB Hyderabad it's a 10-week module, Certified CPR expert and first aider, I have been educating folks at work and we also conduct workshops teaching people life-saving skills in case of critical emergencies.
I also run an f1 sports streaming platform with my friends on youtube with over 50k subscribers

Post-MBA goal: General Management, Consulting, Ops Development


Planning to apply in R1 this year.

Target schools: ISB Hyderabad ( i need help with my target colleges as well I am an applicant with no tech or finance background ) this is the only college I have come across soo far with alumni from similar hospitality backgrounds, would love to know my options

Would like to understand what are my chances and if I should consider applying to any other school.

On paper, you should be a candidate for ISB. The GMAT score is critical and that's a big missing component to your profile right now.

I would also be much more specific about your career goals. General Management, Consulting and Ops Development needs to be refined into one clear narrative.

You should always be applying to more than one school. What else are you considering? Would you go outside of India?

Admissionado: I have my options open I would like to pursue my MBA, from a Top business college, I have no limitations when it comes to choosing the right college however I am a little sceptical given my background with no tech or finance education. Also, I was wondering what be should an eligible score and how much time I should dedicate to my application. I am eyeing a 700+ score for my GMAT. I have HEC Paris, Schulich, Darden, Duke Fuqua how do I make my application standout??, I know my GMAT score will be one critical factor and its the only thing I am focussing on at present if I manage to get a decent GMAT score, do you think I will be in a position to make my application stand out from the rest of the pool of applicants, I have a 9year background in hospitality and hotel with multiple diverse and impactful moments during the course of my career. I am sure if presented the right way to the admission committee I will be in a position to make my application strong and impactful with a clear objective.

There is no need for a pre-MBA finance or tech education to gain acceptance. In fact, not having such a pedigree might actually work in your favor because it'll gives you a point of differentiation. Hospitality is not as well-represented of a background - this could be a great angle for you!

Making your application stand out in general is all about finding the secret sauce in what makes you special. It's very hard to do that based on a paragraph's worth of details. You should definitely engage with a consultant who can take the appropriate time and professionalism to go through your background in more detail and work with you in an iterative fashion to fine tune a narrative and develop a "brand" that will maximize your chances at these fine programs you have listed.
