So I took the GMAT today and got a 650 with Q40, V39 and IR 7.
I'm applying for MiF at LSE, HEC and ESADE, MiM at LBS and SIM at St. Gallen.
I am a bit worried about my GMAT score since I did very poorly on quant (38%) and well on verbal (89%)
I am graduating from a top European university this year with a good GPA. The program is highly quantitative so will this offset my bad quant score or does it not matter since it is that bad.
I am also doing an exchange at a good US university for 6 months this semester
I have summer internship experience in Strategy & Operations consulting at Deloitte in my home country (Central Europe) and a summer internship at a tech startup in NYC
I have also been trading stocks with quite good returns for the past 5 years and have some other extra curricular activities that are interesting.
Let me know what you think. Should I retake the GMAT or should I try my luck. I know I can do way better on quant, just had a bad night's sleep the day before the exam.
Any comments are welcome. Thanks!
Hi
mper,
You have a strong profile - GPA, Exchange semesters work out for you. Having Deloitte on your resume is a highlighting factor as well - Although your JD would matter as well ( Did you have any strong quants/finance experience? or any major achievements while you worked at the company).
The thing is you have 3 highly selective schools in your list - LSE, St.Gallen, HEC are very selective schools and you will be competing with applicants with a far wider financial experience and with certifications such as CFA.
If you are positive of improving your score by 40+ points, then I would suggest a retake.
A strong GMAT coupled with a solid application (Know which points to highlight for which school - For Eg: LSE is high on international experience, so this can be the hero of your LSE Essay) can help you stand a fair shot at these schools. Would place your chances roughly at 45%-65% for LSE, HEC, Gallen and around 75% for ESADE.
We have helped applicants of similar profile get into schools like LBS,LSE, Cass, HEC, ESSEC, Vanderbuilt, Questrom, IE and ESADE.
