Hi everyone,
I am about to graduate from McGill University, and am interested to in a MS programs:
Profile
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Nationality: Moroccan (can potentially apply for the Canadian Citizenship if that can help?)
GPA: 3.5/4.0
Degree: Finance and two concentrations in Statistics and Accounting
School (Undergraduate): McGill University
Official GMAT Score: 690 (50Q 34V, 6IR), English is not my native language (I've been looking around and people with the same scaled scores have been getting 700 on the GMAT which is a bit disappointing)
Languages: French, English, Arabic
Programming: Java, R, Visual Basic, Python, C++, Matlab
Work Experience + Extracurricular: I was Vice President and then President of a branch of AIESEC (international NGO that places students in jobs abroad) during each year we generated around 40K and grew the NGO by 30% more than the year before. We got many awards and during the last year I was overseeing around 100 people through 10 different divisions. (Very intense and rewarding two year)
I guess this work experience would be accounted for as NGO Consulting?
So here are my questions:
-Should I apply as a Canadian or as a Moroccan?
-Given my profile and my relatively poor GMAT score (sub-700), should I consider retaking the exam? Or is my score enough to get into MS Finance programs? (I strongly believe I can get my verbal score to a range of 36 to 38)
-Here are the schools I am interested in (not Mathematical Finance nor Financial Engineering):
Desired Canadian Programs: University of Toronto
Desired American Programs: MIT (Ms Finance), U Chicago, Columbia (MS Financial Economics), Any other programs you would recommend applying?
Desired European Programs: Oxford Said (Ms Finance), LBS (Master Financial Analysis), LSE (Ms Finance and Private Equity or Ms Finance), Imperial
Desired Asian Programs: Hong Kong University
Let me know what you think of my profile and on when I should start applying to schools!
Kind Regards
Othman
