If you have crystal clear justifiable goals (short & long term), which are aligned with your INSEAD Post MBA planning, then you can go for it. With 760 score, you can easily apply to insead whether in France or Singapore. Best of luck for application.

Thanks for the review Raxit85 .

I feel my work experience is below par owing to a lack of international travel (worked with international clients though but never outside india), is there anything i can do to improve my chances.

Yes i feel i can justify the need for a second MBA from insead.

I think lack of international exposure is not a big deal to get admit into Insead or any other truly global b school. But still, if you think that the your assumption is significant, then you can hunt for the international business related job profile and get some experience. Still, I don't think it's requirement of any premiere b school. It'd be better to approach Insead Alumni or Adcoms for the same.

Hi Inseadxyz, this is Kate from mbaMission.

The progression from developer to manager is great, especially with C-suite exposure. I'd want to dig more into your interest in consulting (it's a popular choice, so why is it a good choice for you? What skills transfer? What do you want to do long term with that consulting experience?). I agree that international experience would be great to have, especially if you're targeting INSEAD where they really value that.

In terms of academics, agree that your undergrad marks are okay. The GMAT is excellent. Already having an MBA concerns me though, as some schools are less receptive to that and some will consider you ineligible for another MBA. Even if you are eligible to apply, you must make a strong case for why you still need an MBA. Spots are competitive so they want the spots to go to not just qualified people, but qualified people who stand to gain a lot from the degree.

As far as profile improvements, it's hard to do much better on the GMAT, but I suppose if you could score higher, that could help. I also wonder whether waiting another year could help, as you're slightly on the less experienced side and another year might give you time to get some international experience (even if it was for a conference or volunteer trip). That would also give you more time away from the prior MBA and might make your case stronger. Something to consider!

Thanks,
Kate

· Education (undergraduate institution, GPA, major - high school/entrance exams not needed):
10th : 90%
12th : 91% (school topper)
Undergrad Btech : 70% ( small town college)
Post graduation : 65% ( IIM Kashipur)

· Other coursework or post-undergraduate education: Did my MBA from IIM Kashipur (newer IIM but still in top 20 b schools)

· GMAT: 760 (Q-50, V-42, IR – 8)

· Work experience (highlight amount of work experience, industries, roles, promotions, special accomplishments, international exposure): 2.5 years as a software developer in Infosys and 1 year as a sales manager (reporting to associate vice president and board) in a middle sized firm. (valuation .8 Billion USD)

· Extracurricular activities (highlight notable undergraduate and post-undergraduate ones): Won several national level case study competitions during my MBA, Gold medal for academic proficiency in marketing (this was the only subject i could get a hang of :( , School topper, Volunteered in Placement and organising committees in undergrad , NGO work experience of 2 years, Several appreciation mails and Rewards and recognition awards.

Sports : part of football team right from undergraduate to postgraduate level - represented iim in sporting events.

· Post-MBA goals: Make a career in consulting and shift to a new geography.

· Target schools: Insead or any other top 10 - 1 year MBA programs

Question :
I am planning to apply for Insead/Others next year, please let me know what i can do to improve my profile and should i retake GMAT owing to an average academic profile and no international experience ?

You're welcome! Yes, that makes sense and I think schools will understand how you needed the first degree to make that switch. Good luck over the next year, and keep us posted if you have further questions.
