Background: Applying in Fall 2018 for Fall 2019 start date.
Work experience: 3 years of work experience upon submission of applications in Fall 2018 (4 upon planned matriculation) in Big 4 Public Accounting, Audit. Currently attempting to transition into Transaction Advisory Services.
Extra curriculars: Volunteer work at local animal rescue shelters (10+ hours each week). Volunteer at LLS. President of Beta Alpha Psi during college. Undergraduate Teaching Assistant during college. Recipient of scholarship awarded to "Top Achieving Academic Student" during college. IM Leagues (need to show some personality right?)
Undergrad school/major: University of Pittsburgh, Accounting/Finance
Certifications: Licensed CPA
Race/nationality: White, US
Sex: Male
Stats GMAT Score: 760 Total, 49Q, 44V, AWA 6, IR 8
Undergrad GPA: 3.85
Post-Grad Goal of MBA: To secure a position with a BB Investment Bank (specifically M&A/Core IB division), with the ultimate goal of transitioning to Corporate Development for a F100-F500 Company
Target schools: Chicago, Columbia, MIT, Duke, UVA, NYU. I will apply to Wharton since I'm located in Philadelphia but that's obviously a bit of a pipe dream. I would be happy with any of these schools and I know that my career goals are possible at any of them.
I can spin a story but still think my WE/Demographic will lead to an uphill battle for all of these schools. Really hoping I can secure a TAS position.

Well your GPA / GMAT stats are excellent! Well done.
I think you hit the nail on the head in mentioning the challenges...for you it's really about differentiating among a very competitive demographic. And second, experience in Audit is not the most sought after pre-MBA field. But hopefully you get that transfer and if not you can find ways to showcase how your Audit experience (and Big 4 training) will help you switch careers.
Good list of schools, some are quite ambitious as you know, particularly Wharton and Columbia, but I would go for them considering your goals. Do make sure you research, engage with, visit, talk to students, etc. And try to make your essays showcase your personality and passions in life.
