Just want to rant here
Pretty disappointed about the retake.
Scored 720 online last time. But because of rampant cheating in the GMAT online exam-even GMAC admitted, the validity of online exam results is highly questioned by many schools and some just flat-out rejected those results. There was an interesting article by GMAC on how it was trying to crack down some ringer-gang.
But still, the validity of the online exam is heavily discounted. Heard that cheating problem of GRE is even worse because, well, application to grad schools not in business or law doesn’t really factor in too much weight on GRE score if under grad GPA is good from a recognized school or candidates got great pubs/essays. So ppl just hire someone else to take the exam to get a good score and save headache on GRE.
So decided to retake the exam at test centre and got only 740 with a record low on quant-49.
Never got anything lower than 50. Usually hovering around 50-51 for quant. Shocked when saw the quant. 😩

Hopefully, you get a score you are happy with the next time round. Going into your next attempt with a positive mindset knowing that you already have a 740 under your belt may be helpful. That is a great score just by itself. The path for a high score is not always smooth. Here's a student I had who ended up with a 760 but had a few bumps along the way, for example.

Congratulations on the 740 and what must have been a higher verbal score.
Why do you say that the validity of the online exam is questioned by many schools and/or GMAC? I've haven't heard anything like this from any of my students who applied using an online score.
