Hello everyone,
I am taking my GMAT on August 5th (17 days of studying from today including breaks)
Below are my test scores
MGMAT1 2/26/17 - 520 Q36 V25
2 3/18/17 - 530 Q33 V31
3 3/24/17 - 570 Q41 V28
4 3/26/17 - 530 Q35 V29
5 4/02/17 - 570 Q39 V30
GMATPREP
3 4/05/17 - 640 Q41 V38
4 4/09/17 - 640 Q49 V29
Test Day - 610 Q Q42 V31Timing was terrible for this test. On each section I ran out of time and guessed the last 5 or 6. Also, choked big time on a lot of them. sat there dazed and confused.
GMATPREP
6 5/21/17 - 620 Q44 V31
2 6/03/17 - 700 Q49 V35 - saw repeated questions - inflated a bit
MGMAT6 6/11/17 - 500 Q28 V31 (choked)
Veritas
1 7/04/17 - 650 Q46 V 33
2 7/16/17 - 650 Q45 V34
I have 19 days until the test. My timing has improved substantially in the 2nd veritas test but my score did not go up (i did a huge focus on SC timing and RC timing which helped me answer almost all questions but had to rush through the last 3 because they decided to be evil and put the last RC as the last 3 questions).
Here are the Stats for each section of Veri 2
Quant:
DS - 12/15
PS 12/22
Looks like most of my issues come from DMF's, specifically factors! should be an easy one to boost up... Not many careless errors
Verbal:
CR - 9/12
RC - 8/15 (missed all of the last 3 that i couldnt finish in time)
SC - 8/14
Looks like most of my SC errors come from not being able to solve participles/lists/use of which in a timely manner. looking to watch a video of this to improve b/c i already tried looking into it but couldnt fully comprehend i guess.
CR errors come from C&E mostly. i have the powerscore bible and will look into that section for this.
RC - missed 2 out of the first 12 RC questions. both from inference of same passage - a super dense passage.
Situation: i work full time, going to take a day or 2 off for full-on studying. I've planned 2 breaks within the test date. Any pointers on how i can improve this? i cant get over the 700 hump. My plan currently consists of 2 more practice tests (probably should be doing 3?) and working on focus points with a large overview the last few days and a break on the day before. I keep an
error log that i havent really added into until this 2nd round of gmat studying. I review each test and have detailed analysis (takes a long time, i go thru correct and incorrect - time sinks - problem areas). usually takes me 3-4 work days to complete (4 hrs a day after work).
Hi grenneth,
Hope your preparation is on track to a great score.
Try to drill down into each problem type to ace them.
SC: The questions test various concepts such as S-V agreement, modifiers, parallelism etc. Find out what troubles you. As a general guide line, you can start solving a question by taking the following things in consideration:
1. Find out the subject and the verb
2. See that the S&V agree in number
3. Look out for the modifiers
4. Look out for parallelism
5. Look out for usage of certain words - such as vs like, few vs less etc.
CR: There might be certain types of questions that are troubling you. May be Assumption, may be conclusion, inference etc.
You need to find that out and then practice them
RC: This again can be drilled down into different types of questions and also different topics. See what questions and topics trouble you the most and then practice accordingly.
Quants: Again try to break the questions in topics such as Algebra, Number system (very important), Geometry, PnC etc.
As an addition, start preparing an
error log and keep a note of all the mistakes you made and the lessons you learnt from the problems. This will ensure you do not make the same mistake again.
