Are any climbers in the room?
Is any climber in the room?

Probably good to bookmark an Official Question this sort of SC concept pops up in.

What about "ANY" with plural entity?
For example: Any of the candidates interviewed is good for this position.

As per SANAM, "candidates" is plural, and hence must be followed by "are", not "is". But, the above example is quoted from an official source, I am not able to find the exact source. I had written in my notes.

I just wanted to double confirm my understanding, as it contradicts what MGMAT states in the guide book.
Hi Pankaj0901,

I know that MGMAT recommends a simpler approach, but the rules around the SANAM pronouns aren't that clear-cut. If you want, you could go through a similar discussion (on none) here.

Thanks AjiteshArun - I have come across the ambiguity of "none", however, I wasn't so sure about that of "any". Anyways, for me, the issue doesn't seem to be worth breaking head for, as I must focus on other key areas.
