Hello Everyone,
Big thank you to everyone helping the GMAT aspirants here.
I'm going for my second attempt of GMAT on 15th september (25 daya from now) and I'm focusing on improving my verbal score. I scored V32 last time. This time I want it to increase to atleast V40.
So far I've used only MGMAT study material for all the verbal sections. In addition to this I have read some posts here and there for the theory part.
I gave official gmat prep mock and scored 35 on verbal section. I am going through the OG Verbal 2016 for practice and also through some question bank that I got hold of from my friends.
Here are the major problems that I think are reducing my verbal score:
1. As soon as I start the verbal section in the mock, I start reading so much into the words that I begin losing time. I just get so lost somewhere in the words and the sentence that I have to reread the whole stuff again.
2. In order to increase the pace, I commit silly mistakes by skimming through some questions. When I review them, I realize that I had understood the question wrong.
3. RC is my weakest section. I am never confident of the answers that I'm marking in this section. I am okay with following the SC and CR strategies by Manhattan but I have still not been able to find a good RC strategy. Kindly share something regarding this that will help.
4. The major problem with RC for me is that I do understand the passage but I am not able to interpret the questions properly. When I review them, I find that I had completely misunderstood the questions.
The boldface questions are the most confusing to me.
5. Being said that, my score in SC and CR fluctuates. I have started making error sheet and will share it as soon as possible for better analysis.
I have OG, GMAT free tests and Veritas Practise Test Set for practice. I have downloaded some stuff from GMAT club that addresses some individual topics.
Kindly share a strategy that I can follow from here on for Verbal. Any new study material/question bank that I can follow?

Dear Student,
You have close to 3 weeks as of now before the test which is a lot of time to refine and fine tune your preparation, given that you have the right strategy to identify and fix your weak areas.
Existing Issues:
1) Weak in RC: Your weak reading skills are not just affecting the RC questions but also SC/CR. You need to improve your comprehension.
Solution: Two things that you need to do ace GMAT RC
(a) Comprehend the passage
(b) Have strategies to ace every question type.
Note - #a comes first, and then #b. If you don’t comprehend the passage, the strategies will not work.
Then the question becomes – how to improve comprehension? You improve comprehension by following the 7 Reading strategies that we recommend
1) Get Immersed in the passage
2) Summarize in your own words
3) Predict the thoughts through keywords
4) Shorten the technical terms & names
5) Identify & quickly go through the Details“
6) Understand Sentence Structure
7) Infer Meaning of Difficult Words

2)Varying score in SC and CR: You are at a decent level (70 - 75 percentile) in Verbal. The reason that your score is varying is that there are some concepts in which your competency is still low. When you get questions of medium and high difficulty level from these topics, your ability/percentile score goes down. Since you have followed a book heavy approach so far, you haven’t been able to identify these topics and fix them.
Solution: Take an ability quiz in Scholaranium to determine your strong and weak points. One you identify your weak scores through Scholaranium, you will have to build your core skills in the weak sections.
In this way you immediately identify your weak areas and fix them which will improve your overall Verbal ability /score.

I am now able to differentiate between question types and approach them accordingly. A big thank you to you and e-GMAT for sharing this session. If you have any such session on SC/CR, I would love to listen to that too.
SCHOLARANIUM: I am yet to appear for Scholaranium Ability Quiz. As soon as I do, I'll share my results here.
TARGET SCORE: My target score is 740. I am gunning for Q50-Q51 and V40. My previous score was Q50, V30 (sorry I mentioned it V32 in title- I had completely forgotten) and total was 680.
I have finally booked 21st September for the exam. So I have 24 days in my hand.
