I just got a 660 on the gmat (46Q 36V) and I have a 3.59 gpa from a state university in NY. I also just started working at GEICO in a management development program. I want to apply to BYU's mba (672 avg gmat) program in 2018 to start in the fall of 2019.
Will my GMAT score get the job done or should I study and retake? All thoughts/suggestions are welcome!

First of all congratulations on your GMAT score. Believe me although it may feel like a low score, but it certainly is not. The average GMAT score for BYU Marriott is 670 so you are definitely within the average. Secondly 3.59 is a solid GPA it clearly proves that you can do the work. Finally GEICO is the second largest auto insurer in the US which means it is a company known to any top Business school. Overall I think you are a great candidate for any top Business school not just for BYU. Although BYU Marriott is a great business school one which is proven in many rankings, I would highly recommend you to also consider some other highly ranked business schools some maybe in the top 10 depending on your career aspirations. You certainly belong there.
As far as re-taking the GMAT is concerned, if you do feel your performance did not reflect your best score and you can improve on your score by putting in a little more effort or improving on your week areas then by all means please go ahead it certainly couldn’t hurt especially given the fact that you have at least a year and a half before you apply. However I will recommend ordering the ESR and analyzing your week areas before your next attempt.

First off, a 660/Q46 is a strong score (it's just above the 80th percentile overall), so it's absolutely "in the range" of what BYU would find acceptable - and as such, it could be enough to get you into BYU. By extension, a retest might not be necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

If you're not planning to apply until next year, then you could certainly retake the GMAT if you like (and my guess is that some of the Admissions Experts will actually suggest it, since there's really nothing to lose). At face value though, you have a competitive GMAT Score, so your time might be better served working on other aspects of your application profile.
