Hi all, I’m applying to MSc Finance at Warwick and need some advice on the SOP. One of the questions is: What evidence of research or reading in this area can you show?
I’m not sure how to approach this question. Any advice is much appreciated.

As we all know that the purpose of writing an SOP is to let the Admission committee know about your background, accomplishments and other important factors. Since this SOP is for the MSc in Finance program, you need to showcase your accomplishments in the field of finance and your motivation behind pursuing this course.
Coming to your question, they want concrete evidence of your interest in the field of finance and by reading, they mean that they want to know what efforts you have taken to expand your knowledge on Finance and how do you keep yourself updated about the latest advancements in this field- You can include any courses you have voluntarily opted for, any finance industry leader whose writings you follow and any research papers that impacted you.
For the learning part, you can talk about the additional finance-related courses which you took up beyond your regular classroom learning, or if you had taken any electives during your undergraduate degree which were finance-related, you can always talk about them in your SOP. Any summer school programs which you have attended or can also be included in the same.
Also, you need to mention about what sparked your interest in the field of finance and what exactly motivated you towards pursuing this program. Ideally, the reason should be professional. For example- Any internship experience which was closely related to the field of finance might work.
Lastly, you need to talk about how this program is going to add value to your career and in what ways are you going to contribute towards the school.
