Okay, out of answer choices B, C, and D, which looks easiest to work with (with rare exception, start with B, C, or D since they typically give more information than A and E)?
I'll go with C.
20 is the second number.
First number is twice the second, so 40 is the first number.
Third number is one-third of the first. Yuck, but 13.33 is the third number.
Do those those add up to 132? Nope, they add up to 73.33. So, answer choice C is wrong.
Do we need a bigger number or a smaller one? Bigger, so we can eliminate answer choices D and E. Between A and B, which looks easier to work with?
Since I remember the "one-third" thing, 36 is probably a friendlier choice. I'll go with B.
36 is the second number.
First number is twice the second, so 72 is the first number.
Third number is one-third of the first, so 24 is the third number.
Do those add up to 132? Yep. Done. Answer choice B.
