So here’s a weird one that I haven’t been able to find the answer to.
My role is in digital marketing, and I would like to get an MBA so that I can make a transition from small-time local agencies and clients, into more of a management consulting or global ad agency role that focuses on digital / marketing (think Deloitte Digital, Saatchi & Saatchi etc.).
Along side my career, I am also a licensed tattoo artist and I have built a pretty decent following/ portfolio. I receive around 5 to 6 inquires per week to commission an art piece or schedule a tattoo appointment at my home tattoo studio.
My question is, how taboo is this to mention? Does it help or would it hurt? In my mind it shows business savvy, but because it’s related to tattoos, I wonder if it would be frowned upon - especially since my goal is to get into a larger consulting firm where beards, tattoos, and other non-traditional lifestyle choices are not appreciated.
Follow up question: If this is advantageous to put on an MBA application, are there particular schools that would generally appreciate it more than others?
Thanks!
