Hi Scoielito,

Are you asking because you are just starting out with your GMAT prep? If so, do you need any general advice regarding your study plan?

Hi Scopelito,

It sounds like you're just beginning your studies. Is that true? Have you done any studying so far?

If you're just beginning, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can access 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a bit of practice first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the general content and question types first, then that's fine - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

DO NOT USE BLOOMBERG PREP "FREE" OFFER! I did, and they subsequently updated the terms of service, and are now denying me a refund of the supposedly refundable deposit. I'm fighting with their customer support team for my refund, and they aren't even denying that they are going contrary to the spirit of the offer - they are just seeking to make you believe you will get your deposit back, and then they will withhold the deposit, knowing that there's not much you can do about it. Its not like you're going to take them to court over that amount of money.

Hi blackswallow,

Back in August, you posted that you had taken several practice CATs/mocks and that you were planning to take the GMAT in September. Did you end up taking the GMAT as scheduled (and if you did, then how did you score)? If you're still studying now - and considering GMAT Courses, then I have to assume that you have not hit your Score Goal yet.

Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them, then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget. Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied in total ? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi blackswallow,

If you are looking to improve your score and are considering to enroll to an online course, I would suggest you do a thorough research and then decide. Because a right resource is as good as a good mentor an d a good study partner. Studying from a good standard resource will make half the work easier for you. So, I suggest you to check out the free trials of other courses and then choose the one which suits you better.

You can go through this article to understand a few key factors that you should keep in mind while evaluating the online courses.

If you are open to suggestions, I would suggest you to check out the free trial of GMATWhiz. It provides you with a personalized study plan and it is an adaptive course which helps you work on your weak areas. If you wish to have a detailed discussion regarding the study strategy or the resource, you can get in touch with me using the below link.

Bloomberg's covid-19 plan is scam. Do not expect any deposit back from them. Bloomberg uses artificial intelligence bot to teach you GMAT. There is zero chance it will improve your score.
