The volume of the metal casting— (10*10–5*5)*2= (100– 25)*2= 150

If the metal casting is 10 cm SQUARED, isn't that already the area? Why must it be x10 again?

It says that it is a "metal casting SQUARE", it talks about the shape. Not to be confused with "squared" (cm²)
