If the metal casting is 10 cm SQUARED, isn't that already the area? Why must it be x10 again?

If the metal casting is 10 cm SQUARED, isn't that already the area? Why must it be x10 again?


It says that it is a "metal casting SQUARE", it talks about the shape. Not to be confused with "squared" (cm²)
