The ratio of the present ages of a father and a son is 8 : 1. Eight years from now, the ratio would be 10 : 3. What is the present age of the father?

A. 24
B. 32
C. 40
D. 48
E. 56

\(\frac{F}{S} = \frac{8}{1}\)
\(\frac{F_8}{S_8} = \frac{10}{3}\)

Now, check carefully

\(\frac{F}{S} = \frac{8------+2------>10}{1-------+2------>3}\)

2 is represented as 8
1 is represented as 4
