Hi Rich

Thank you very much for your response.
1) I have been studying for 5 months and also took the Princeton Review classes

2) I scored a 68 percentile in quant and 13 percentile in verbal so verbal is the issue!

3) I took the full exam each time when i practiced

4) I haven't decided the dates but in August so i have ample of time to practice

5) Im planing to apply for the fall 2017 intake

Really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jaie

Hi JaieSawant,

I actually asked for the Scaled Scores on your Official GMAT (not the percentiles), but the information you've provided is good enough to evaluate your situation. While you clearly have a greater opportunity to pick up points in the Verbal section than in the Quant section, you could still pick up those points in the Quant. The 13th percentile in the Verbal section could be problematic though - depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to. It implies that you were 'guessing' on a LOT of the Verbal questions you faced (you might have been narrowing the answers down to 2 or 3 choices, but you were still guessing far too often in the Verbal section). If you were to make some reasonable improvements to how you handle the Verbal section, and pick up a few points in the Quant section, then you could score well above 640.

1) How many questions did you have to guess on in the Quant and Verbal sections on Test Day?
2) What did you do during your two 8-minute breaks?

Hi Rich,

Thanks you so much for writing back.
1) I did not guess any questions in the first 15 in both the sections. In quants I started guessing from 20 onwards because I was running out of time. In verbal again i started guessing only after 20 and I guessed the reading comprehensions as i did not have time to read the passage.

2) I went out to the washroom and thats about it.

Really appreciate your help.
Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,
Jaie

Hi JaieSawant,

With pacing issues that are that significant, it's likely that "your way" of dealing with GMAT questions is the "long way." Most GMAT prompts can be approached with a variety of different methods, so to 'fix' your pacing problem you're going to have to learn/practice some new Tactics (that should make dealing with individual questions, as well as the full sections, a faster process).

Since your last group of study resources were not enough to get you to your score goal, you'll likely have to invest in some new practice materials. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget.

If you have any additional question, then just let me know.

Your issue actually doesn't lie in time management. You ran out of time because you spent too much time on the earlier, presumably easier questions, which demonstrates a lack of understanding of the basics. If I were you I would restart the learning, make sure I understand the fundamentals, improve accuracy, and then slowly re-introduce timing.

Under un-timed condition, what percentage of Verbal questions from the OG do you think you can get right?

Something to consider with time management -- you should really make an effort to get the easy questions done in as little time as possible --so that you free up more time on the time-intensive ones.

Often, it's easiest to really clear out the easy SC questions -- so that you have more time to read the text-heavy CR and RC questions. We teach specific speed techniques that really help you dominate those easy ones without having to read all the answer choices or even the entire sentence -- and it does wonders for your time. So certainly don't dismiss the easy ones just because you can get them right. Focus on speed -- because that will be critical for your overall time management.

Do Quant and SC questions as high priority. LR, DI can take crazy times sometimes. As far as prep time management goes
