No I don't think that is the case. As per my understanding only students with scholarships got early admits. In my opinion the admissions team is currently evaluating the candidates of R2 and then make R1 admit offers based on how the apps have stacked up for R2..
I don't think there will be another early batch of admits sent out before the deadline. The rest of the admit notifications will come out on the day of or day before the decision deadline. Also, at least it was my experience last year, but there were several students admitted on the decision deadline day that receive scholarships.

For R1 applicants who don't even have interview invites, should we assume a waitlist as our best case scenario?
Some people they're gonna take a quick glance at and just invite on the basis of high GPA and/or high GMAT score.
rbsx Any chance you can elaborate on where you heard/saw this?

Not entirely true. I have a sub-par GMAT (well below school average) and a decent GPA (near school average)... and I received my interview invite within 2 days of the Round 1 deadline. I am also an early admit.

Wow that is awesome, congrats! Would you mind elaborating your work experience/background? I too have average GPA and I'm a bit worried about my GMAT score not being high enough. Thank you!

Sachdix, I'm in the same boat -- an R1 applicant without an interview invite. I'm curious -- isn't being interviewed a prereq for being waitlisted? I'm not sure how applicants can be on a waitlisted without being interviewed.
Guys, if you have slightly above average GPA, quite above average GMAT,slightly above average WE, and superlative LORs & still not get invited in the early phase, does it means that your WE quality sucks?
Anyone in R1 with above average GPA&GMAT&WE and was not interviewed ?
Will give me some perspective about my shortcomings.

I'm beginning to hear a distinct "ding". [/quote]
Not sure about Anderson but I know a few schools who do waitlist without interview as well!!

I got an interview invite on Jan 7th itself, which I think was the deadline, when I submitted the sunday before. I believe they are looking at them on a rolling basis.
Well, I'm officially in a cold sweat. I just noticed that on the admissions requirements page it says double spaced essays, whereas within the application itself it says no text size/font or margin requirements. I didn't double space. Guess I have pushed myself out of the running.

No worries, they will just read every other line.
That's cold, bro!

Lol, didn't think you were serious about the worry. Chill! I didn't double space either and have interview.
