I had my Skype interview today. I thought it went pretty well in general but halfway through my parents' labradoodle wandered in, put his head on my lap, and started licking my hands. I tried as covertly as possible to push him away but my interviewer asked me if I was petting my dog, gave me a weird look, and started laughing! Ugh, I hope it's not too much of a ding :(

I had my skype interview a few hours back. She had my resume. She started by getting to know more about my job and what I do. Here are the questions she asked:

1. Why do you want an MBA?
2. Describe a difficult situation that you have faced at work. How did you overcome it and what did you learn from it?
3. You lead a team of 3 for two modules. If I were to ask your team about the kind of leader you are, what would they say?
4. What do you think you lack as a leader that you can overcome at a B-school?
5. What has been your biggest achievement at work so far?
6. Why do you want to join USC?
7. Tell me about one misconception that people have about you.
8. Any questions for me.

It was good experience and the interview lasted about 30 min. She answered my questions with lot of passion and enthusiasm. She added one important point in the end. She said that the final results would start going out from 15th of March but all results wont be declared on that day and that the declaration of results would go on till 1st April.

All the best to those who are waiting for the interview.

I don't think that would be reason for a ding. But maybe you could have explained that your pet came in the room without your knowledge. I suggest you do that in the thank you mail. Anyway, can you tell us which questions you were asked?

Is this the end of the road for those (like me) without an interview invite? I see a sign in the distance that says "Ding: 0 miles".

I wouldn't worry. I was just on campus for my interview this week, and one of the admissions officers told some other R2 applicants that she was still reviewing applications. They are just short staffed, so I'm sure there are still plenty of interview invites that will go out before March 15th. You've still got plenty of time. :-D

Last year invites were going out throughout Feb till early March. Things appear a bit strange this year, the amount of invites for R1 are wayyy down, same thing with R2.

Hi all. Received the below on Feb 6th and interviewing this Saturday. I have visited the campus already and am a Southern California local.

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the USC Marshall MBA Program. We have reviewed your profile, and are inviting you to schedule an interview with a member of our Admissions Committee. We will be conducting interviews on campus on Saturday, February 28th and Saturday, March 7th. Interview times will be as follows: 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm.

For those fellow candidates who have interviewed on campus already with an adcom member, was the interview blind or did they come prepared to ask specifics regarding your application? Also, any idea how long the interview is scheduled for? Is it a hard stop, or is there potential to carry over the time allotted?

Good luck to all potential Trojans!

I interviewed on campus last week and received the same email. I didn't have an admissions committee member interview me, but rather a second year student. The interview was blind, and all he had done was read through my resume beforehand.

The interview is usually about 45 minutes. If they have someone scheduled for after your interview, it'll be a hard stop. I think mine was a hard stop anyway. My interviewer asked me questions for about 20 minutes or so (we started the interview late on his end), and then I had 15 minutes to ask him questions. It was very conversational.

Good luck!

Technical difficulties in what sense?
