Darden's Assistant Dean of Admissions - Sara Neher had this to say when asked if we could still expect interview invites (BTG discussion held on 11th Dec '14)

"Yes, it is possible to still receive an interview invitation. Some went out late last week and I'll be reviewing the applications one last time between now and the decision release next week."

I think she was just saying it because it the politically right thing to say. How can she expect working people to scramble and set up travel/interview in one business day?

Maybe she was.

But I know I would break a leg and a half to reach any corner of the world for that Darden interview. Just give me an invite already! :D

unofficially Denied without interview on the basis that I am too old, experienced.
Is it discriminatory? maybe yes, maybe no, I dont know.
How do you know age/experience was the reason?
Darden wrote me that they are so impressed by my professional experience that they would like to invite me to interview to their EMBA program. I replied them with a bunch of reasons why FT MBA is more suitable for me.
Their response was that we are not considering you for our full-time MBA. That's pretty self-explanatory.
Have a look at the stats, the PT programs are just way less competitive than the FT programs. While there is many people at the full-time program with about two years work experience, there are also many with 8+ years.

FROM Darden Admissions Blog: Fall 2014 Student Blog Highlights
The best way to learn about life at a particular business school is by talking to a current student. Several Darden students have volunteered to blog about their experiences over their two years in the MBA program. Here are some of the highlights from the fall.

Darden Eats: Rich’s Pizza by Amy Appleby
Through their signature dishes, Amy gives you a glimpse into the lives of Darden students outside of the classroom.

Job Treks by Stuart Cameron
Stuart wants to make sure you know about Job Treks: student-organized trips to major cities for the sole purpose of visiting companies and getting a first-hand look at their company culture.

The Ride I Will Never Forget! by Archana Rao
After going on a roadtrip to test out some of the best roller coasters in America, Archana realizes that roller coasters are very similar to career recruiting.

Going to Gemba – Darden Site Visits to Learn About LEAN by Kyle Galle
Kyle describes a recent trip his class took to the Charlottesville location of GE – Intelligent Platforms to learn about LEAN.

Gratitude by Aparna Warrier
Aparna takes a moment to reflect on a few of the things she’s thankful for.

I have an ethics question for you all...I have been accepted into HBS so I will be attending there. Should I call these other schools to cancel my application so that more of you may be admitted? Is this usual practice? I will still like to know that I am accepted and I already pay for my application fee. However, I am feel bad for you all, but will it really make any difference?

Edit: Since the decision will be out soon, will it really change anything?

I'll answer your question with another to make the answer more evident: What do you think of someone whose sole reasons for their actions, which come at the cost of a positive stimuli for others, is pride?

On a less sardonic note, I'm not actually sure it would change a whole lot - they'd possibly bump the top wait listed person to an admit so you'd be delaying their gratification, but I can't be sure.

Hey harvardmbaapplicant,

First, congratulations on the HBS admit. That is a really huge feat you accomplished.

Coming to your question, being in your shoes, I would have definitely withdrawn the rest of my applications IF I had an admit from my first preference school (and I'm guessing HBS was your first choice). What events you set in motion, upon withdrawing you application, should not be your concern because nobody can predict what goes on behind the scenes and nobody can really say whats the "usual practice" at the adcoms.

For the phone calls you mean? Do all admits get a call, even the international ones?

Had my Darden interview a few weeks ago. Some general thoughts:

1. Beautiful facilities. Darden is a bit removed from the main grounds, but there is a free shuttle bus that takes you there. In the summer, the grounds must be breathtaking as the red brick contrasts with the white pillars.

2. Great atmosphere. Students hung out with us despite finals being around the corner and were blunt in their criticism and praise for the school.

3. The interview. Easily my worst performance. The interviewer was aggressive and I definitely did not form a connection with her. I think I got all my points across though.

Don't worry, I felt the same away about my Darden interview! Definitely harder to make a connection than previous times... I also thought it was way less structured than my previous interviews.

Thanks for the feedback regarding my question! I have done a lot of deciding, and I will wait it out because I have the Jefferson scholarship and if HBS does'nt offer a good package, then I will have a free MBA from Darden and that is a good option to wait for. Also, I called the admissions office and they said that they will advise if I am in doubt, to leave the application as it is because they will not change any decisions anymore. Thank you for your input, and best of luck to everybody! I will withdraw the other applications I am not serious about now, but good luck to everybody for Darden!
