I'd love to hear what you thought of the visit and the interview. I'll be going myself next Friday and haven't heard much about the style of the interview.
Hey, no problem! I had a really great visit - I started with my interview with Jill in the morning, had a little free time, then met my student host for the day. If you're spending the day with a current student, they try really hard to pair you with someone in your intended concentration, so I was paired with a second year Health Care student. I went to a class with her, then we met up with her friend who was also hosting a prospective and the four of us went to lunch. After that, we had a group session with the Career Management Center. I was on campus from about 8:30 to 3.
As for the interview, it was very conversational. She had me walk her through my resume, the typical why MBA, why now, why Owen questions. Then she asked what companies I was targeting. Then she said "Pretend I'm a rep from this company. Give me your two minute pitch on why I should hire you." I wish I had been a little more prepared for that one - she did actually time me. The rest of the questions were pretty typical, standard B School interview questions, no tricks. Then we had plenty of time for questions - we discussed international opportunities, opportunities for experiential learning, what they look for most in someone.
All in, about 30 minutes. Everyone in Admissions is really as nice as they seem. I met one member of the AdCom on the road in New York, and when I went to reintroduce myself when I got to campus, she said "Oh no, I remember you. We met in New York. Glad you could were able to come visit!"
Good luck with your visit - hope you enjoy it! I really loved it - definitely top choice.
Thank you very much for the detailed response! Out of curiosity, when did they follow up with you to set up the schedule? I haven't heard anything from them in a while, but I believe they said they'd reach out about a week prior to the visit to finalize details.
:: Box Fail::
I requested my visit in the beginning of November for mid-December. I actually visited on the last day of classes, so there was a lot going on, and it took them a little longer to find a student host for me. I followed up with them about 6 days out and they told me they were still trying to set everything up, but they definitely had me on the schedule. They followed up with me again on a Sunday night (visit was Thursday) to confirm the details. If you don't hear from them at the one week mark, send an email to the campus visit coordinators.
