Hello Nuthead,

You havent mentioned your post-MBA goals here.
In general, you have a competitive profile for ISB. Is there a chance for you to get that GMAT up by a 20-30 points. You also haven't mentioned your undergrad grades to put this in better context.
Other than GMAT, focus on presenting a compelling story to the AdCom.
Hope this helps.

Hi

My undergrad grade is 8.71/10
Post MBA Career : Product Management in Technology company

I wanted to apply in the first round with this score itself. Is it a wise decision?

Hello Nuthead,

Noone has the crystal ball to say if this will see you through but you have less experience compared to the average experience at ISB. A plus is you have good GPA to compensate for your low GMAT. If you must apply, then focus on putting a great story together in your application. Talk about impact and demonstrated leadership potential in your essays. You have good ECs; utlise them well too.

Hi kloppismydad, no need to retake GRE; this is quite decent.

Hi Jimpaul,

The acads are average. 3 different companies in 3 years signal lack of consistency which would need to be explained. Could you please elaborate on your involvement in the NGOs and the nature of work-ex?
Gmat is low for the profile by at least 20-30 points. Hence, suggest you re-take the Gmat and get some time (at least a year) in your current role to have a few key initiatives under your belt.

Cheers,
Manan

Hi,
Please review my profile for ISB's Early Entry Option.
I am a recent graduate from a tier-1 college (BITS Pilani) with 6.81/10 CGPA in Electronics and Instrumentation engineering. My 10th and 12% were 93.1 and 92.6% respectively. I have done around 4 internships at various places including 2 IT Firms, 1 Antarctica based research centre, and a Thermal Power Plant and have gained varied experience overall. I also held multiple positions of responsibilities during college including the coordinator of the filmmaking club, and the events manager at the annual cultural festival. Besides that, I also have rich experience at volunteer work which includes volunteering at the Goa chapter of the NGO- Nirmaan, where I used to teach batches of around 20 school students on weekends. In addition, I have also headed the volunteer team in Uttar Pradesh's largest single-day blood collection drive. I enjoy making short films and videos as a hobby and have a youtube channel of my own along with several videos I directed on the college's film club's page. I recently scored a 690 on GMAT(Q50, V31) and want to apply to ISB's Early Entry Option.
I have several queries regarding the same:
1) Will the score be enough given my background?
2) Since I will be joining ISB only after 2 years from now, after getting a 2yr work experience, does which round I apply in even have a bearing on my chances? Or can I apply in either of the round 1 or round 2 and have similar shot at getting into EEO? Asking this to gauge the timeline and see if I should look towards taking a retest or not. Thanks

Hi gargi2706,

You have got one great profile. You have exhibited leadership qualities from your college time to your current organization and you do have achievements for the same. And your experience with some big companies and tech giants are definitely going to put you at an advantage. Your ECs are pretty amazing. You have been involved in some very ‘diverse’ societies and your background, too, provides for the ‘diversity’ factor. What rather impressed me is your guts of taking a year break and writing your own novel. If you’re especially targeting ISB, I suggest you bring the following qualities in your application:

Academic Excellence: I am assuming you already possess it, given you achieve your targeted GRE score.
Impact: Aspirants are evaluated on the bold decisions they have taken in work, their leadership qualities, and the strength of taking initiatives.
Diversity
Clarity of thought in career goals: Do present clear, pragmatic goals in your short term.

Additionally, make sure you list down the gaps that you have identified in your profile that you think an MBA from ISB will help you fill in order to achieve your post-MBA goals. Also, I would like to know if you are considering good b-schools in Europe too?
If you’d like we are happy to hop on a call sometime this week to discuss your chances further. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hi whitemiror, very decent profile overall. You've not mentioned your discipline in B.Tech. Was it CS?

Your goal of Product management also seems very aligned with your current nature of work.

Now, all the care should be taken in the essay that this goal seems a logical next-step of the work-experience you've had so far.

p.s. Retaking GMAT is a strategically good decision. You already have an enviable benchmark of 700 set for yourself. So, you obviously cannot go lower than that in your re-attempt.

Hi Shvmnrng, I am assuming you are currently working in Paytm Mobiquest (in other words, your work-ex has been mentioned in ascending order :) ).

Very good GMAT score; well know Alma mater; great brands as employers. Your experience is slightly on the lower side (which I am sure is not a news to you). The heartening fact however is that in the past, we've had many candidates with just 2+ years of experience making it to ISB. So it is clear that ISB has repeatedly shown willingness and inclination to accept candidates with relatively lower experience.

p.s. Did not get any visibility into your career goals. Make sure they are aligned with your professional experiences so far (which are largely in analytics so far, as far as I understand).

This should be your top priority right now gargi2706. Reach 325 and if possible, breach it!

Everything else will automatically fall in place!

Good luck with your GRE.

p.s. With an English major and a novel behind you, I am sure Verbal on GRE is piece of cake for you :) .
