Hi
Ok...as I have already posted, I took the GMAT Prep 2 (free test) today with AWA and IR (exam based settings) and got a 700 (Q48/V37) IR 8....with a breakup of CR41,RC36,SC31........this was a retake..I took this 2.5 months back and scored a 610. So i uninstalled prep and reinstalled it. I was able to find very few old questions and didn`t remember much of the answers.
One thing what that surprise me is my quant score (got 5th question alone incorrect out of the first 15 questions) and a series of incorrects(22,23,24,25) with a total of 5 incorrects. Can I assume that making a series of questions wrong will drop the score?
My target score is 700 minimum.
My last 3 mock scores
Manhattan 1 - 670 (q45 v36)---IR1
Gmat Prep 1 - 660 (q49 v31)----ESR-----for verbal alone -----CR35 , SC35, RC25 .... IR6
Gmat Prep 3 (EP1 purchased) - 660 (q49 v31) -----for verbal alone CR39 RC30 SC25 ....IR8
The exams were taken under exam type settings with AWA, IR and 8 minute breaks.
My exam is on May 31st. So suggestions and tips will be helpful.
Thanks
Balaji
Hi Balaji,
refer to your PM..
Firstly, you have been scoring in the range of 660-670 in preps, so a lucky day can always get you to that 700. MOVE ahead with this frame of mind or you will give up before the race starts.
Yes, these 15 days are very important to you for that 700, and you have to convert that 'lucky' day to 'any ' day in these 15 days..
You seem to be having problem in SC and thats an area you can improve upon. Use the prep reports to try and home on to your weak areas in each subsection and learn something NEW in all these areas. For example, types and role of each modifier, look for parallelism etc. your MOCK should tell you your weaknesses...
Missing 5 in a row does punish you more than scattered 5.
Reason- when you are unable to answer a certain level say 700, it will give you another 700 and then get you down to 600..
so 5 wrong in a ROW will get you to 700+ to 500+ and then again you move up from there. there are lot many things in your calculations but in layman terms this is what will happen...
Have faith in yourself - "you have seen 700 in a mock, you will see more than that in actuals", BUT work towards that in these 10-12 days, leave rest 2-3 for normal studies
