Your overall profile looks pretty strong. To start off with the strong suits in your profile, your GPA of 8.5/10 in bachelors is impressive. Since you have also mentioned that you have topped your class over 8 semesters and have been top 1% in a cohort consisting of 219 engineering schools, this showcases that you have been an excellent student throughout your college life.
Moving on, extracurricular participation plays an important role in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Seeing your extra-curricular activities, I’d say you have varied endeavors on this end, which portrays your proactive attitude.! You have been a student representative in your final year and led a student body of 3000.
This is a good quantification and also shows the ability of your leadership skills. Further, you have also volunteered with professors of HBS online to add new course content, taught Math and English at Bhumi to underprivileged students, led calligraphy club shows, this shows diverse activities in your profile and also brings to light the socially responsible aspect of your personality. All in all, you need to dig deep into every aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile.
Coming to your GRE score, 320 is pretty decent however your Quant score (166) is a bit on the lower end. Considering your aspiration for M.Fin, you need to focus on other financial aspects that showcase your ability in quant and finance.
You are also preparing for CFA level 1 which is excellent. It further compliments your profile and your strong inclination towards the field of finance.
On the professional front, you have worked at Accenture as an IT consultant for a period of 1.8 years which is excellent as it is one of the big firms in the world, which brings you to par with the competition you will face. Additionally, your international experience of interning in Dubai, UAE, showcases your adaptability and broadened perspective which is highly valued by the B-schools.
However, the responsibilities you have held at both organizations fall short when it comes to core financial roles. So herein you need to talk about your exposure towards the field of finance by showcasing financial elements in your profile since you intend to apply for specialized masters. The reason being, schools tend to prefer candidates who show a lot of passion in terms of the field they choose.
To differentiate yourself, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took, and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would allow you to stand out from your competition.
Further given your school choices, ESSEC, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, and ESCP comes under the competitive category and thus, your chances of acceptance will be 70% at these schools. However, you can always broaden your options by targeting dream schools as well as safe schools.
Having said that, a few more schools that you could be considering are:
DREAM: LBS, INSEAD, LSE
SAFE: EDHEC, Skema, Grenoble
Lastly, while you have a good profile, you need to be aware that you will be facing competition from equally good or even better profiles, which is why, you need to complement your profile with a strong application that includes essays, letter of recommendation, statement of purpose, and resume that highlights all your strong suits, gives reasoning for the weaknesses and displays how you’d be a good addition to the cohort. As a matter of fact, your application can boost your chances of acceptance by 3x!

Hi. Please evaluate my profile. I represent Indian non-IT male. Here are the key highlights:
1. Decent 88% and 86% in 10th & 12th standard respectively. Im not sure if they are asked!
2. Undergraduate GPA - 2.92/4.00
3. Work Ex - 8.5 years (Oil & Gas MNCs)
4. 2+ years of International exposure in oilfield operations(UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq)
5. Total of Four papers published, two of them with leading industry researchers.
6. Regular promotions during work and rewarded personally from director middle east (HQ) for growing company footprint.
7. GMAT: 690
Should I reconsider taking Gmat since average Indian in these schools scores 700+ or would my work ex and achievement help me get through this?
My post MBA goal is to shift towards digital transformation of Oilfield for which there has been a significant investment in many companies already and I hope to transform my career towards this direction coming from a strong background in operations.
Appreciate your response on this matter.
