Big congrats to all those of you who received admits from earlier rounds. For those of you applying in January, I wanted to pass this along. 300 words to tell a story is a recommendation is REAL tight and so I asked her to contact IESE admissions to see if we can submit 500 words and they will accept it.

Dear _

Sure we can receive the recommendation few days after the deadline.

You can exceed as well the word limit.

Best,

Miriam

Hi

I am applying to the round 2 for IESE and I have a few questions about the application:

1. One of my referees is having a hard time submitting his response within the word limit because my job profile is extremely technical and he would like to explain it a little bit for admission committee to better visualize the scenario. So, he asked me to confirm if the word limit is tight for recommendations. Please let me know if 500 words is too long?

2. I have 3 referees, one of whom is traveling out of country for the rest of the year and will be back Jan 7th. Can he submit his recommendation after the deadline?

Please advise, I will really appreciate it.

Hi, can any one please guide where I can find IESE questions related to recommendation letters. I'm going to apply for R2. Can anyone give some tips on how to get best recommendation letters?

1. How do the candidate’s performance, potential, or personal qualities compare to those of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? Please provide specific examples. (300 words)

2. Please describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response. (250 words)

I find a website mentioning the above listed as recommendation questions; however, I could not find it in official website.

sorry for the delay in getting a reply to you. I've been travelling.

I'll let you in on how I did it.
Clearly you already found the questions.
Under normal expectations you would submit your recommenders emails they would get the questions and then they submit their answers, and you are none the wiser.
that's what I did last year.

This year I did it slightly different:
after reaching out and verifying they were willing to write my recommendation letters (find people that really support your journey, not just someone who grudgingly agrees to write you a letter, it will show in the writing), I then proceeded to write a 3-4 page email, introducing them to the school, it's values, the classes, the electives, what my currently planned career path was, and which electives i was interested in.
nothing wrong with doing that. they could have gone on the website of the school and found all of that, but, they're doing me a favour so I want to save them time.

I also looked at my application and what parts of my application were weakest. In that same email, i stated that clearly I was not going to tell them what to write, but I would appreciate it if they could focus on those lesser addressed parts.

In the case of my recommenders, they 1 of them sent me the letter prior to submitting, asking me if it was ok, and telling me i could rewrite parts of it if I wanted to.
I immediately wrote back telling him no offense, but I would not do that, as it wouldn't be a fair thing to do, (seriously do not write your own letters, it will get noticed). What I did point out, is that he forgot to address a part of the second question. He then proceeded to submit the letter (I guess he wrote about that part of the second question before doing so, I don't know)

in short:
- prep your recommenders
- guide them where needed
- do not write the letters yourself
- take recommenders that are your champion
- be sure you and your recommenders have a clear view of your application and what you're already saying and not saying.

best of luck

Hi,

I had a query regarding IESE form. Do we seperately need to report the official score to the school. I happen to not see this instruction mentioned explicitly anywhere.

I do believe you have to upload your score. (I think the field is mandatory)
There are some people that didn’t submit the gmat to the school through the test center and only uploaded, that got admitted.
They may be asked for the full scrote later on (including AWA)

To be safe: submit both through the test center and upload.
If you’re worried about cancellations showing: I had them and I got admitted, they didn’t even ask about them.

Alright, so I'd not submitted my test score on the test day. I have uploaded my unofficial score as of now.
You are recommending to report the score officially via the GMAT website as well? The other schools I'm applying, have explicitly mentioned to report official scores. Since IESE hasn't done that, hence, I was a little skeptical.

I’m saying you may be asked for them at a later date. If didn’t do it on test day, then don’t.
People have gotten in with just the unofficial score upload.

You may or may not be asked about/for it at a later date

Hi All,

Submitting my application in Round 2. Other schools provide an exact time for the application deadline (e.g. 17h00 local time). However, I can't seem to find anything on the IESE website with specifics regarding the deadline. Anyone have any further info?

Thanks & good luck to all submitting in R2!

not 100% certain but I would say midnight CET.

Personally, I would never risk it to submit at the very last hour. you never know if your computer crashes or something else happens that prevents you from submitting.
do yourself a favour and aim for tomorrow or Monday at the latest.
any last minute rewrites to essays might even be worse than what you started with, and you're also much more likely to leave in typos or nonsensical phrases.

just my thoughts

Hi aeon86,
I have almost completed my IESE Application for R2., but I'm still working on my final draft of my scholarship essay. Could you please give a broad overview of how one should go about the Scholarship Essay.
