I think debu90 submitted their application on 20th and got an interview call. They've replied on my post with the same detail in the forum earlier.

Yes I submitted on 20th September and got a call on 5th October. I had selected my interview to be online.

Thank you for reaching out to the ISB admissions team.

The applications are in the process of verification, please wait for an update.

After I emailed the AdCom about verification.

That brings me to another question now: Anyone with a GRE score who has been invited to interview?

What is baffling me is them sending out interview invites without verifying all applications. Maybe they have some filters in-place which allow them to sift through applications based on certain criteria?

I would assume (and hope!) that they would glance over all applications before sending out interview invites to gain a better perspective on what sort of profiles and scores have applied. Guess it's not the case?

Nevertheless, the anxiety of many on this forum has been communicated to ISB. We may have someone address it soon. The lack of communication is my only gripe with them.

Hey Guys,

I can confirm two things as an alum and formerly managing this process earlier while at ISB,
- ALL applications WILL be assessed for interview invites before the process is closed
- There IS a method to what they're doing right now (which they obviously won't share) and nothing is random

My sense is that the profiles which have been called meet a set of pre-defined criteria while they're waiting the pool to be complete once all gmat/gre scores are in to weigh the rest. ISB has communicated earlier that this process will be rolling and continue for a month or so.

Easier said than done but having gone through a long waiting period (30 Nov submission and 4th Feb interview) when I got through, I can only say this- while the lack of communication might be disconcerting but request you to stay calm, trust the school to do the right thing and focus on what's in your hands- your interview prep, as the duration between the invite and the interview can be random (between 3 to 5 days).

Happy to have a chat if it helps calm your nerves. :)

Cheers,
Manan

Hi manan,

Thanks for that clarification.

But what is worrying most people is not that it is random, but the fact that filling seats with people who meet this "pre-defined criteria", without looking at all applications(and the complete application), makes the entire process look unfair.

I'm sure ISB is more worried about ensuring they have the best pool as it would impact its ranking, brand, etc. They will make sure the best of the lot get in and no great profiles are left out.
Hence, whoever are getting interview calls (not admits, no seats have been filled yet) could mean that these verified (remember verification being done in batches) applications meet that score/criteria and as more get verified week-on-week, they will then get called in.

Also, there is a constraint of interviews being conducted only over the weekend and panels' reduced efficiency since it is virtual. It could very well mean that there is a backlog of verification mails and consequently interview invites. Giving more than 3-6 days notice before the interview will probably be unfair.

Keep calm, prepare and wait..in this order :)

They primarily reach out to those with GMAT scores higher than the class average initially.

It serves two purposes: one, trying to lock in someone with a high GMAT score before any other program can snag them. Two, it helps them maintain a high class average since they will also admit quite a few folk with lower than average scores.

Did you mean that if I already got a verification mail, and even after 3 batches I do not receive an invite then there are high chances that my application does not fit in the pre-defined criteria?

Hi guys!
I feel that there are a lot of variables at play here. We don't know how many applications they have received and the number of people who have requested for an extension of test score submissions.

While I totally understand that things could be communicated more effectively, I would advise against panicking. We have over a month until the final results are announced. I distinctly remember a few folks being interviewed even after the majority of the decisions were rolled out in last year's R2.

Evaluating our chances and trying to predict a process that we have no idea about only increases our anxieties and the anxieties of those around us. Let's not self reject ourselves and have some faith in the hardwork all of us have put-in for our applications.

PS: Thank You kloppismydad for reaching out to ISB and communicating the concerns of the applicant body.

It could also mean that there is a backlog after the verified applications or they're waiting to evaluate your application with the wider pool. Either ways, no need to panic yet and just focus on what's in your hands- the prep! Even if ISB comes back with a statement around what they're up to (they can't exactly reveal everything), I'm sure there would be more questions and concerns as the response can never be perfect.

Cheers!

Hi guys,
We're having a GMAT club connect session with Sushmitha Sushree, a current student at ISB. With interviews around the corner, that would be the main focus of today's session. Also it would be a great opportunity to understand how ISB is handling the transition to campus.

More details on https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmatclub-con ... 35713.html
