Wow that’s amazing, congratulations! Did you get an email and portal update out of nowhere on 21? As that wasn’t a typical decision deadline. If so, what were your action items in the call with the adcom?

I gave a general sort of update: * shared what are the projects I have taken on at work, and shared what’s progress/impact in the projects I was working on at work and community development activities. Also shared what I learned about school and community at Darden, and how could I contribute to them with help of my prior experience and background (community fit, et al). Yes, it was out of nowhere. I too didn’t know. A student working with admissions office later told me that AdComm might send out a few more results in the coming weeks, but because of holiday season, it could be sporadic. There wasn’t a specific call to action for my WL. My WL manager told that my application wa every much inline with the general requirements, but since some other applications were more interesting than mine, they were given IN and I was on WL. I was asked to work on whatever I might find comfortable and can even share another recommendation.

ronild , Congratulations. We’re you offered any scholarship? Also, how did you submit the extra recommendation? Was it a direct email to the WL manager from your recommender?

Yes, an email from the recommender to WL manager. And no, didn’t receive scholarship.

What should you be writing for contributions to Darden? I mean all individual come with a different background and experience right? what are they looking for in this?

I wouldn’t think about what they want to see. I’d write about why something specific from my background and experiences make me suitable for those Darden specific activities. I’d call this a part of the ’cultural fit’ that AdComm keeps talking about. And yes, that’s the beauty of it -- we can show how our unique background could help us bring richness and diversity to the school’s community. My advice: find things that are common in your background and school’s activities, and then talk about the ones your are most passionate or excited about. Show what new you’d do, how would you contribute to those initiatives (be as specific as possible).
