length = 6 inch
height = 9 inch
width w1, w2 and w1 is not equal to w2
priced by volume = $2 per inch^3
Volume of one box = 24.5 * height = 24.5*9 = 220.5
Volume of second box = 32.75 * height = 32.75*9 = 294.75
Price of one box = 220.5*2= 441.. so 440 is closest choice
Price of second box = 294.75*2= 589.5.. so 590 is closes choice

We know that:
\(Base Area = L*W\)
\(V = L * W * H\)
Therefore,
\(V = L* \frac{Base Area}{L} * H\)
\(V = Base Area * H\)
\(Cost = $2*V\)
Base area of 24.5 sq. in.
\(V = Base Area * H\)
\(V = 24.5* 9 = 220.5\)
\(C=2*220.50=441\approx{$440} \)
Base area of 32.75 sq. in.
\(V = Base Area * H\)
\(V = 32.75* 9 = 294.75\)
\(C=2*294.75=589.5 \approx{$590} \)
Therefore, the answers are:
Base area 24.5 square inches -> $440
Base area 32.75 square inches -> $590
