Here is some advice for NYU Stern MBA applicants:

-Be authentic and honest in your application. NYU Stern values candidates who demonstrate their true selves, so it's important to showcase your genuine personality, experiences, and goals throughout your application materials.

-Apply early if possible. Applying in earlier rounds generally gives you a better chance at admission and scholarships at most MBA programs. NYU Stern has multiple application rounds, so aiming for an earlier deadline will be advantageous.

-Highlight relevant extracurricular activities and interests. NYU Stern looks for well-rounded candidates who will contribute to the school community. Discuss extracurricular activities you're genuinely passionate about and can speak to in depth. This demonstrates your potential involvement on campus and ability to balance academics with other pursuits.

-Prepare thoroughly for your interview and stay consistent with your application. Review your application materials before the interview, as the interviewer will likely ask questions based on what you've written. Maintain consistency between your essays, resume, and interview responses to present a coherent narrative.

-Demonstrate both IQ and EQ (emotional intelligence). NYU Stern places a strong emphasis on candidates who exhibit both intellectual capability and interpersonal skills. Throughout your application and interview, showcase examples of your academic/professional achievements as well as your ability to work well with others and lead teams.

-Research and show genuine interest in NYU Stern. Familiarize yourself with the program's unique offerings, culture, and values. Use this knowledge to articulate specific reasons why Stern is the right fit for you and how you'll contribute to the community.

-Address any weaknesses in your application proactively. If you have areas of concern (e.g., low GPA or GMAT score), take steps to mitigate them, such as taking additional courses or highlighting relevant work experience

If anyone needs help with NYU Essays and confused how to create essays, MBA Conquerors has taken a roleplay approach on their DIY Applications which are available for free. Here is how MBA Conquerors has done things for Michael Scott’s (TV Show: The Office) NYU Essays- https://www.mbaconquerors.com/post/roleplay0003 . The commentary at the bottom highlights how to go about it.

Good luck for your applications!

That probably up there is the best free resource you can get if you are creating the application yourself without expensive consultants. Here is the link to the entire DIY Page- https://www.mbaconquerors.com/diy

Last year 1 person on this forum was accepted with a waiver. Take that as you will, but after doing the waiver myself and getting waitlisted, I would have just taken the test if I did it again.

Hi There,

Many candidates with waivers get admitted into the MBA classes at NYU and other business schools. However, it’s no doubt submitting a GMAT/ GRE score strengthens your candidacy and increases your chances of being admitted and receiving substantial funding.

So, if you are sure your profile is strong with strong leadership experiences and possibly professional certifications, you have nothing to worry about. Just try to write the best essay you can write and show these strengths.

Hi there,

Yes, I personally know of someone with 3years experience who got fully funded scholarship from Stern however, she yielded to accept Booth.

However, there is no particular modality to determine the criteria for receiving fully funded scholarships as all applications are unique and reviewed holistically.

The best bet is to try as much as possible to put your best applications forward and apply in the early rounds if you can.

It’s the overall picture of your profile that is considered . Try applying for early rounds to increase your chances of securing a scholarship.

Hi There,

It’s okay to apply with your unofficial score. Official scores are only required when you’re admitted to Stern.

Yes, you can submit your unofficial score, but an official score is required for the final decision.

Hello, I have a question regarding goals to be included in the essay part. I am interested in applying for 2 year MBA and goals are aligned in Tech side. Would goals being in Tech negatively impact my application since not considering the TEch MBA?

I strongly doubt that your application would be viewed negatively since Tech is one of the top three industries which traditional MBAs recruit for.
