• Goal: ISB Round 1 this year with a post MBA goal of pivoting into energy/oil and gas /strategy consulting from core operations and project management

Would appreciate any insights on how this profile stacks up for ISB and any specific areas I should focus on highlighting further
Hi Satyam,
Your Industry is good, GPA is very good

I think you have a very good chance as you come from a less-common industry

You need to find a way to justify why MTech and then why MBA.

Your years of experience is low on count and you are switching too soon from Engineering to MBA after MTech.

Get a GMAT score in range of 695 and then be ready to ride.

Hi ,
Regarding ISB admissions timelines — after the interview, are results typically released at the end of each application round, or does ISB follow a rolling decision process and release admits individually as interviews conclude? Would appreciate insights

Your profile is all good. But the intent to go for MBA and relevant experience preparing you for the journey is important to reflect in the application so better start brainstorming on those aspects

Target GMAT for all : 675
Only for IIMs: 655 will also do fine.

This is a strong finance-focused profile for Indian School of Business and good enough to be competitive for schools like INSEAD, London Business School, and HEC Paris with the right GMAT.

Strong points: Excellent school academics, CA + CFA combination, Relevant finance experience across IB research, asset management, and renewable project finance

International brand exposure through EDF, Female + finance diversity helps

While even a 655+ would be sufficient for Indian schools. A 675+ will put you around median and a 705+ might help you get scholarships aswell.

Overall, with a 705+ GMAT and strong application execution, you have a very competitive shot at ISB and a good chance at top European schools as well.

Improvement standpoint: showcase that you are inclined towards being a leader. You can do that by inching towards leadership roles.

Any community impact initiatives can be highlighted, if not yet done. You can consider .

Lastly, a strong narration of your journey and how all the dots connect to your post MBA goal.

Clarity at young age :). This is a strong profile for Indian School of Business. Strong academics, relevant consulting experience in healthcare/pharma, promotion within 2.5 years, and clear post-MBA goals make the profile well positioned.

What works especially well: Female + non-engineer diversity, Strong academic consistency, Healthcare consulting niche with Fortune 500 exposure

Clear career vision in pharma/healthcare strategy, Early leadership indicators

With a 685+ GMAT and strong essays, you have a very competitive shot at ISB R1. For US T10 and top EU schools like HEC Paris and ESSEC Business School, pushing closer to 705+ would strengthen the profile further.

Hi aakanksha6698,

Your profile is strong for ISB as well as schools like INSEAD, LBS, and HEC Paris due to strong academics, CA + CFA combination, and relevant finance experience. EDF especially adds good brand value and a differentiated renewable energy financing angle. Target 685+ GMAT FE for ISB and ideally 705+ for top European schools.

One thing you will need to defend properly is the relatively frequent job changes, so make sure the transitions show clear career progression and learning. Also, spend time refining your post-MBA goals because clarity around your long-term finance/investment story will be very important in essays and interviews.

All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.

Hi,
Honestly, your profile is already pretty solid for Indian School of Business.
Good academics, healthcare consulting experience, promotion, and clear goals, all of that fits well with ISB.
The biggest thing now is the GMAT. If you get around 685+, you’ll be in a strong spot for ISB. For US T10, higher would help more.
Your extracurriculars are okay, not amazing, but they’re enough. Your work experience is the stronger part of the profile anyway.
Also, your healthcare story is very clean and believable, which helps a lot. Nothing feels random.

Hi Ritisha,

Overall, this is a good profile with strong academics and relevant experience in the healthcare domain. While 2.5 years of experience may be slightly below the average for ISB, it should not be a major concern considering you will likely have close to 3.5 years by the time you join. The quality of your projects, leadership exposure, and measurable impact will matter a lot, and how effectively you present these experiences in your applications will be key.

A GMAT FE score of 685+ should keep you competitive for ISB. For international schools, apart from Top 10 US programs, you should also consider schools located near major pharma and healthcare hubs such as Boston and New Jersey. Schools like Questrom (Boston University), Carroll (Boston College), UNC, Vanderbilt, and Duke could be strong fits. If you secure a good GMAT score along with scholarships, these schools can offer excellent ROI.

In Europe, HEC Paris and ESSEC Business School are strong options, and you can also explore IMD.

All the Best!
