Hi GMAT Club,
This is my first post on this forum which has proven to be my guiding light for GMAT prep. Just a quick background intro, I have 2.5 years of work ex at an asset management firm in Mumbai. I have a first class honours degree from Middlesex Uni (London) and an MSc. Finance from St. Andrews. I am currently preparing for my GMAT (due to appear in November) and currently scoring in the mid 600s in my mocks. Hopeful of being able to cross the 700 barrier in the 2 months leading up to the GMAT.
I am at a bit of a crossroads with respect to my application eligibility. My preferences (in order) are enlisted below:
1. LBS
2. Imperial
3. Warwick
4. Oxbridge
LBS and Oxford both accept 2 years of work ex and above. Considering that I am applying for the January deadlines across all universities I will have roughly 2 years and 10 months of work-ex by the time. However, Imperial and Warwick all ask for 3 years of work ex (at the time of application) and Cambridge asks for 3 at the time of joining. So basis that, I would not be able to apply to WBS and Imperial Business Schools. I did a quick check with some of my friends currently at WBS (MBA), and they stated that there are quite a few student who had 1- 1.5 years of work ex at the time of joining. This is quite a stark contrast to their website requirements. Ive had similar mixed responses from Imperial which also states min. 3 years work ex but has been known to accept ppl with a lot less.
I would really appreciate some insight on this, as it will drastically influence whether I apply for 2020 or 2021 intakes.
Thanks in advance everyone.

Most of the schools require minimum 2 years, that you already have. If you get 700 in GMAT, you will have a great chance to get admit in all the desired schools. However, you need to show your leadership potentiality with great essays, and strong recommendations.
Thank you for such a prompt reply. Yes the 2 year work ex threshold was my impression too.
The main reason behind this question was the fact that Imperial, Warwick and Cambridge clearly state a min. of 3 years work ex on their website (not 2 years like LBS and Oxford) despite my direct knowledge of students getting in with less (1-2 yrs at WBS).
I had even submitted my CV for a
profile review with WBS and the response wasn’t very positive as my work ex was below 3 yrs.
