Unlike Vesalius's magisterial seven-volume textbook that corrected Galenist and Aristotelian assumptions about anatomy, Mondino maintained the old beliefs regarding blood vessels and nerves, and described the human heart as having three chambers.

A) Vesalius's magisterial seven-volume textbook that corrected
B) Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook that corrected
C) Vesalius, whose magisterial seven-volume textbook correct
D) The magisterial seven-volume textbook of Vesalius that corrected
E) Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook, correcting

Even C is the best option which uses correct comparison Vesalius vs. Mondino. But I'm still not convinced by C. The problem is the verb "correct" which uses for plural noun. But "Seven-volume textbook" is singular. The dash "-" that connects seven to volume makes "seven-volume" is an adjective. In addition, If textbook is plural, it should be "textbooks".

Any one has a comment?

Yes pqhai, you pointed it out correctly.
That was the reason, I was not completely satisfied with C.

Yes C is the only choice that compares Vesalius with Mondino; but it has two vital problems. The first thing is that the contrast which is the essence of the passage is not brought out in C. There are two statements, one about Vesalius and another about Mondino, without a meaningful conjugation.
Second issues is the use of present tense correct in the first clause, and the past tense maintained in the second clause, thus flouting parallelism

I don't understand why you are saying that contrast is not brought out in C.
I think "Unlike" is doing this work here.

Unlike Vesalius, whose book did X, Mondino maintained Y.

Please note that unlike is underlined. If what C says is taken per se, then unlike is not part of the choice. It might be that the poster my mistake, underlined the –unlike- part along with the rest. Then the underlining has to be cleared of the word unlike by the poster, after verifying with the original source

Exactly. In fact that is the reason I did not select C,though it was the perfect choice.

Yor are correct
seven volume textbook is third person singular noun, so we need singular verb "corrects"

Question Explanation:

The non-underlined portion of the sentence contains the comparison word unlike, so check that the items being compared are similar. The sentence compares Vesalius’s … textbook to Mondino. Since the sentence compares a textbook to a person instead of a person to a person, this is a comparison error. Eliminate choice A and any obvious repeaters. Because each answer choice must be examined carefully in order to determine whether the comparison is correct, there are no obvious repeaters. Now, evaluate the remaining answer choices individually looking for reasons to eliminate each.

Choice B compares Mondino to both Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook, so this is a comparison error. Eliminate choice B. Choice C fixes the original comparison error by comparing Vesalius to Mondino and introduces no new errors, so keep choice C. Choice D compares textbook to Mondino, so this is a comparison error. Eliminate choice D. Choice E compares Mondino to both Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook, so this is a comparison error. Eliminate choice E.

Choice A: No. Vesalius’s magisterial seven-volume textbook is incorrectly compared to Mondino. Comparison.

Choice B: No. Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook is incorrectly compared to Mondino. Comparison.

Choice C: Correct.

Choice D: No. The magisterial seven-volume textbook of Vesalius is incorrectly compared to Mondino. Comparison.

Choice E: No. Vesalius and his magisterial seven-volume textbook is incorrectly compared to Mondino. Comparison.

The correct answer is choice C.
