Hello there,
Thanks for your message and I can understand that you would like to know how valuable and thorough admissions consulting services are before potentially enrolling.
I can share the following thoughts to consider, and suggestions for next steps for you...
1- How we add value:We aim to add value throughout the process, at every step of the way, with the over-arching goal always being, to help you present your best possible 'self' and give you the best possible chances of being admitted. This process actually begins, for the majority of our clients, BEFORE essays are drafted... as one of my colleagues likes to say, "you can't write great essays without good stories".... so we work with applicants to help them brainstorm and provide feedback and ideas on what ARE the best stories to share, and how you can best engage the reader/admissions committee. THEN, outlining and essay drafting begins, and we work with you as long as you need, as many drafts as it takes, in order to reach a point where both you and we are happy with it. Our Start to Finish package clients, which make up the majority of our customers, receive unlimited help with their chosen number of school applications, so work with their consultants to continually revise and improve drafts (i.e. it's not just ONE revision or feedback session).
To your specific questions, when reviewing a drafted essay, we read it multiple times and consider it from many angles... everything from, IS it a good story and IS it engaging? how well does it answer the question? how well does it show what is great about you, and how well will it help you stand out when possible? does your overall life story to date make sense, and does the need for the MBA and your future story make sense (where applicable)? how well organized is the essay? is it demonstrating strong communication skills, or could it be made more concise? have you shared all that you WANT to share with a school given the full application/essay set (and drawing from earlier brainstorming conversations). And certainly we help with wording and grammar etc, but as you can see with all of the q's I just mentioned, that is more of a later/simpler step... you need a strong story first and foremost. We provide feedback in a mixture of higher level comments, pointing out where you could add more or clarify something perhaps, and also suggested edits or changes, and yes examples whenever possible.

"Liza suggested ways to add depth and dimension. She tightened up the prose into something pithy and lucid. There were dozens of drafts, and she always had great feedback."
"The best part about working with Kate was her incredible ability to truly listen and and connect with her clients. During the brainstorming session, she really got to know me and my life story. Her depth and understanding allowed her to guide me in creating a clear and compelling narrative for my business school essays. When I was accepted into my top choice, they specifically referenced the powerful story in my essay. Without Kate, I wouldn't have been able to create a concise but moving story that explains how an MBA fits into my "non-traditional" background."
"Jessica returned my document with insightful and constructive comments that literally covered the pages. For example, she would suggest that I change one word to make a specific sentence sound more positive. Or she’d tell me to explain things in more detail while suggesting ways to make other sentences more concise. Besides helping me keep the essay within the word limit, this was important because instead of just using one example to showcase my leadership experience, I now had room for two really concrete examples. Looking back at its evolution, that first essay went from good to amazing. Jessica’s feedback made me look forward to revising each draft. Her mentorship has even helped me professionally by making me a more effective and efficient writer at work (though not for this review because I have so much to say)."
"We extensively brainstormed and discussed a plan of action before starting any applications, and it saved me so much time. Katy is incredibly talented at "weaving" the story together- connecting examples in such a way that gets straight to the point in a powerful way. I felt so confident anytime I spoke with Katy- she really spent the time to get to know me as a person and make sure that was coming through in my application."3-- Next steps for you:I suggest you 1- download our FREE Personal Statement guide for some samples, at:
