Apologies if I am posting it in the wrong forum.

Hey guys.
I took the GMAT the second time tomorrow and received the same score again (700 q49 v37). I had a 700 (q47 v39) in my previous attempt too.
I belong to the Indian IT male community hence wanted to push my score to 730-740. I am targeting for 30 us b-schools with consulting as a post MBA target.
I am willing to take another shot at GMAT but scared if I get a 700 or lower again? That would look bad, right?
Should I apply with 700 in R1 maybe? I am targeting 2019 intake.

If you have not yet used the services of a good GMAT instructor, consider doing the same. Talk to the students of the instructor before you sign up with them and ask for personal reviews of these instructors.

You could also check out Chiranjeev Singh (https://www.linkedin.com/in/singhchiranjeev/). I have had students who have undergone his instruction who have been happy with the experience.

If I were you, and was stuck on a low score, I would have explored options.
If your preference for self study hasn't proven useful despite two consecutive attempts, it may be time to learn from others.

Still not sure how a GMAT instructor would help. Given the amount of information that I have provided I don't understand where a GMAT instructor would fit in and how he/she would help.

You can probably secure an admit in the top 30 with your score but it will certainly be on the lower end of that range. Coming from your competitive applicant pool a 700 is seen as a low score. Given the time you have before R1 I would double down and try to push this score up to maximize your chances. Whether it is with more prep, a tutor, a class you should make it your focus to drag this score up 20-40 points

Hi roykabir772,

With a GMAT score of 700 and the fact that you belong to the Indian IT Male pool, Top 30 will definitely be very competitive, if not, impossible. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you look at boosting your scores to around 730 (how you wish to get to this, will be your call :)). With a 730 and a set of well-drafted essays, top 30 will be highly achievable :)

The good part is that you have time at hand. Instead of fearing for the worse, just go out there and work for the best! :)
