in my opinion, A is irrelevant, since there was no information about "highly technological societies";B is more of a weakening argument;C strengthen and true; D correct; E True

but i'm not really sure about my judgement on B, please tell me if you think otherwise.. lets improve together

The stem asks "What could never be true?" So only B can never be true! as argument states only critical thinking helps!!

I struggle with these LSAT "except" inference questions. I read somewhere that when approaching this question type, you could think of it as finding inconsistent statements vs. what is stated in the given passages. Answer choice D is inconsistent b/c the passage explicitly said “…critical thinking is the only adequate protection against political demagogues”. “Mere presence of order system of gov’t" is different from "critical thinking,” so it makes sense to me that D is the correct answer choice here.

What if the "mere presence of an orderly system of government" encourages "critical thinking" which in turn provides adequate protection against political demagogues? then D could be true as well!! Isn't it?

Very, very tough question. I can't seem to put a finger on any of them.

Sociologist: Television, telephones, and other electronic media encourage imprecise, uncritical thinking. Yet critical thinking is the only adequate protection against political demagogues, who seek to exploit people by presenting emotionally loaded language as an objective description of reality.

If the sociologist's statements are true, then each of the following statements could be true EXCEPT:

(A) There are no political demagogues in some highly technological societies. We are not concerned about those some.

(B) Political demagogues are not the only ones who seek to exploit people by presenting emotionally loaded language as an objective description of reality. Not important

(C) Highly emotional people are more easily exploited than less emotional people. True as per the information given

(D) The mere presence of an orderly system of government in a society provides adequate protection against political demagogues.
Correct answer: As it is said the critical thinking is the only way to protect against political demagogues, so here an alternate solution is being discussed which cannot be true as per information provided

(E) The mere presence of electronic communications technology in a society provides adequate protection against the erosion of media freedoms Media freedom is not being discussed
