(up to 400 words)
- Joint degree applicants for the Harvard Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences must provide an additional essay: The MS/MBA Engineering Sciences program is focused on entrepreneurship, design, and innovation. Describe your past experiences in these areas and your reasons for pursuing a program with this focus. (recommended length: 500 words). Applicants will also be able to respond to an optional essay.

Financial Aid
- HBS offers need-based financial aid only; there are no merit scholarships.
- International students are eligible for financial aid.
- Applicants need to submit detailed financial documents, and aid is calculated through a formula-based process.
- Students can petition for increased aid if their circumstances warrant it.
Academic Experience
- The first year is built around the Required Curriculum, also known as RC. Students work through a large number of cases across the program and are divided into sections of around 95 students.
- The first year ends with a field immersion project abroad. Abhinav shared that he worked with a Brazilian sunglass manufacturer.
- The second year is the Elective Curriculum, also known as EC, where students choose their own classes and professors.
Admissions Philosophy
- There is no single HBS archetype. The school values diverse backgrounds and experiences. Strong academics are common among applicants, but personal stories and authentic leadership help candidates stand out.
- Applicants should focus their essays on real-world impact and leadership, not just titles.[/b]
Career Opportunities
- HBS has strong pipelines into finance and consulting.
- Summer entrepreneurship programs offer funding and mentorship for startup founders.
- Guest speakers often include company founders who teach actual class sessions.
Advice from Abhinav
- Do a pre-MBA trip if possible. It can be one of the best ways to build early connections.
- Address academic weaknesses proactively before starting the program.
- If choosing between HBS and GSB, think about your own goals. HBS is known for general management and global alumni scale, while GSB may appeal more strongly to candidates with an entrepreneurial focus.
