OP here - wanted to provide some additional details.
Background: 28 year old male, US citizen, 5 years of consulting experience, 730 GMAT
Post-MBA Goal: Investment Banking. My struggle with this is mostly on location. I have been in NYC for the past 5 years and would like to be back in the southeast where I am originally from. I understand that banking in ATL is somewhat limited. Does it make sense to consider consulting instead as a means to get back home? The scholarship at Emory and UNC is significant and difficult for me to walk away from despite me leaning towards Cornell.
Cornell ($40k):
Ivy League
Really love Ithaca (enjoy the outdoors, skiing, hiking, college town feel)
Solid IB Recruiting and immersion
Most alumni in NYC or the Northeast generally. Few alumni in ATL.
Emory($100k):
Great reputation in the Southeast
Seems like they place very well in consulting in ATL especially T2 / Big4 firms.
UNC ($100K)
Great reputation in the Southeast
Places well in consulting and banking.
I liked Ithaca better but Chapel Hill is nice and I would enjoy the small town feel.
Darden:
On the waitlist here. Was originally my top choice.
Solid placements in both banking and consulting.
Alumni in both NYC and the Southeast.
If I can get in off the waitlist, how would that change things for me? Assuming no scholarship.
